Slipped disc? Herniated disc? Bulging disc?

The term “slipped disc” is related to disc disorders that rarely include slipping. More often than not this phrase is referring to herniated or bulging disc that push into nerve endings nearby.

Unhealthy disc can happen when there are wear and tear of the disc, neck or back strains by repetitive movements or purely exhibiting a poor posture. In some cases, it can caused by accident such as blow to the back 💢

Soft tissue injuries are very common especially in sports ⚽️ ⛹🏼‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️
Examples are sprained ankles, pulled thigh muscles, hamstring tears, strained shoulder muscles etc.

Use hot or ice❓
Apply ice post injury to control bleeding and swelling 🧊

To stretch or not to stretch❓
Depends on the condition of injury, you may rest at the first 2 days if in severe pain. Start gentle stretch and movements at the following day 🧘🏼‍♀️

Scar tissue formation❓
Scar tissue can avoided or reduced if the muscle injury has been treated properly in the early stage. There is a high chance of scar tissue formation when you leave the injury heals by itself. This collagen, inflexible fibrous material can replace muscle fiber and deform the surrounding tissues 💢🤕

Check with physiotherapists to assess your injury and speed up your recovery process! 🏃🏻‍♂️
It is important to start treatment as early as possible to prevent nagging pains ❌and keep your body in optimal condition for activities.

Do you know that 🙋⁉️

The most common causes of low back pain are injuries on lifting heavyweights, falling, awkward posture during sports 🤾🏻‍♀️. People may able to pinpoint the event or movement they did that lead to their back pain.

In some cases, people have chronic back pain (on-and-off, long lasting pain). This is more likely due to issues with their lumbar disc, vertebrae, joints or nerve. But how does this happen?

It can happened with their habitual poor posture or repetitive movements that caused misalignment on the pelvis and spine. Certain muscles accustomed to being in shortened or lengthened state that result in pulling on the joint/ spine 🚨

While resting or self-care may relief your symptoms, it is important to seek for physiotherapy treatment to find out the underlying causes 📝.
