🇲🇾Don’t panic with the recent TB outbreak! 🦠
👨‍⚕️What you should know🍀

If you have a recent contact with TB yet no symptom, you can do a Mantoux test (skin prick test) or TB quantiferon test (blood) and a chest X ray to see if you have latent TB infection.
But if you have symptoms of prolonged cough, night sweat, blood in sputum, weight loss, then a chest X ray and sputum smear for acid fast bacilli (AFB) x3 +/- sputum for TB PCR is needed to see if it is an active TB. An active TB is either smear positive TB if sputum AFB is positive (very highly super contagious) or smear negative TB if sputum AFB is negative (contagious also). 👨🏼‍⚕️This is what you should know…🍀
