The Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM) marked an important milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AMM and the Malaysian Society for Simulation in Healthcare (MaSSH) at the Medical Academies of Malaysia Building, Putrajaya.

Representing AMM at the ceremony were AMM Master, Professor Dato' Dr Hanafiah Harunarashid, together with AMM Immediate Past Master, Professor Dr Rosmawati Mohamed. MaSSH was represented by Professor Dr Ismail Mohd Saiboon as Chairman and Dr Zaleha Abdullah Mahdy as Secretary.

This MoU paves the way for enhanced collaboration between AMM and MaSSH in advancing simulation-based education, training, and research in Malaysia.

🤝 Together, AMM and MaSSH remain committed to driving excellence in healthcare education and specialist training for the benefit of Malaysia and beyond.

Malaysia's specialist umbrella body, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, slams the "dangerous precedent" set by a TPA's anaesthesia directive, calling it a significant overreach that directly impinges on the clinical autonomy of surgeons and anaesthesiologists.

The Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists & College of Anaesthesiologists say while local anaesthesia is appropriate for many procedures, it's not universally safe to be designated the first choice. Anaesthesia choice must be based on medical necessity.

The Academy of Medicine of Malaysia is releasing a press statement today to express our stance against third-party interference in clinical decision-making for anaesthesia.

We strongly believe that medical decisions must remain with qualified professionals, guided by patient safety, ethical standards, and clinical integrity — not external administrative directives.

We call for policies that safeguard patients’ best interests and the integrity of medical practice, rather than compromise care for financial or administrative convenience.
