Communication Therapy International has developed a competency framework for SLTs working, or thinking of working, internationally. The framework is a self assessment tool that helps SLTs think about their current knowledge, understanding, and skills and plan for their continuous professional development when working cross culturally. But be aware that ticking off competencies does not lead to competence! We can never be fully competent when working in and with other cultures into which we were not born. This document serves to help focus awareness on areas of work that we may want to improve upon.
