ℹ️ℹ️TED, also known as Graves' ophthalmopathy, is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the muscles and fatty tissues behind the eyes, leading to inflammation and swelling. It is a distinct condition, most commonly associated with Graves' disease (hyperthyroidism), but can also occur in individuals with hypothyroidism or normal thyroid function.
Some can prevent it from getting worse, such as quit smoking, manage thyroid levels with regular blood tests and medication, and avoid radioiodine treatment if you have active TED/a smoker.
