I sent my student her photos
from her private session.

She’s 75.
She just did a full split
pain-free for the first time in her life.

Her reply: “Never ever dream I can do it.”

This is why I teach.
Not for the pose.
For that moment when someone
meets a version of themselves
they didn’t know existed.

Florence, you inspire me more than you know.

很多人问我:「这个年纪还能做到吗?」
我的回答是:身体不会辜负一直温柔对待它的人。
我没有”教”她劈叉。
我给她的是结构:
正确的辅具、
适合她身体的编排、
和足够的时间。

剩下的,是她自己用纪律换来的。
看着她的练习,
我常常被提醒:
瑜伽从来不是年轻人的专利。
它属于每一个愿意留下来的人。
这就是我教的东西;
不是体式,
是让一个75岁的女人说出
「我从没想过我做得到」。

每天睁开眼睛,
她就开始照顾所有人。

老公的早餐、孩子的功课、
员工的问题、客户的要求、
妈妈的电话、朋友的倾诉。

她什么时候照顾过自己?

每周她来这里一次。
一个小时。

这一个小时里,
她不需要做决定,
不需要回消息,
不需要对任何人负责。

她只需要躺下来,
让我的手告诉她:
「你的肩膀可以放下来了。」
「你的呼吸可以慢一点了。」
「你不需要撑着了。」

上周下课她跟我说了一句话,
我到现在还记得:

「Vivien,这是我每周唯一
不需要照顾别人的一个小时。」

我没有说话。
因为我知道,
这句话她忍了很久。

After 6 beautiful years,
I’m closing Samadi Yoga on May 30, 2026.
This decision comes from a place of
clarity and growth, not defeat.

When I opened this studio in 2020,
I wanted to create a space where people could find peace, strength, and connection through yoga.
We’ve shared so much together :
practices, growth, challenges, and community.

The yoga landscape has changed, and so have I.

I’m now focusing on what calls to me most deeply: immersive retreat experiences and teaching work that goes beyond the mat.

What this doesn’t mean:
• This isn’t the end of my teaching
• This isn’t goodbye to our community
• This isn’t me giving up on yoga

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who practiced with me, trusted me, and shared this journey.

Adho Mukha Svanasana
(Down Dog)

This posture creates an intense stretch for the hamstrings in the back of the thighs. Relaxing the knees will ease the strain of tight hamstrings. Moving the shoulders outward and down away from the ears will create more support and ease the effort of the arms. Hold the asana for at least three full breaths, and relax. The concept of “spiraling” can be discovered here -from the thumbs to the outer elbows and shoulders, and from the big toes to the outer knees and hips. Down Dog is a great counter pose to many other asanas, and used as a rest during Sun Salutation series.
