A teenage girl came with mother for second opinion regarding her palatally displaced upper left second premolar on 5 May 2022.

They were told by previous dentist to remove 4 premolars in each quadrant, in order to align the teeth. They were reluctant to do so as her facial profile is straight and other teeth are well-aligned.

The three pictures as below show the progress of this teenage girl in our clinic within 10 months treatment. No extraction required in her treatment plan.

A young man in his early 20s came to our clinic with his right face swelling, 3 days after a filling done in another clinic. X ray was taken to identify the causative tooth and a root canal treatment was carried out.

Left picture : lower right first molar with a deep restoration, noted periapical radiolucency
Right picture : root canal treatment of lower right first molar is completed.

Root canal treatment is the alternative for saving a tooth from being extracted.

A 28 years old gentleman came to clinic with complaint of deep bite and crowding at his lower teeth. A deep bite is known as a dental malocclusion where there is an excessive overlap between the upper and lower front teeth when the jaw closes. It can cause excessive tooth wear at lower incisors, sores or ulcers at upper palate, gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
After 1 and half year treatment, deep bite and crowding issues are corrected. And he is happy as he can remove his braces by early next year.

Crowded teeth are more difficult to clean, which can lead to several health issues down the line, such as gingivitis & caries. What is a pseudo-class 3?
Pseudo-Class III malocclusion is characterized by the presence of an anterior crossbite due to a forward functional displacement of the mandible. A higher incidence has been observed in an Asian population. Anterior crossbite has been associated with a variety of complications, such as gingival recession of the lower incisors, incisal wear, and worsening of the growth pattern. Therefore, early correction of anterior crossbite in pseudo Class 3 is greatly encouraged for a better occlusion and facial profile.
