Semporna, Sabah is known for its pristine beaches and is a well-known tourist destination. The place is also teeming with immigrants and undocumented people, mostly children. Many of them live on the streets, begging for food.
With this background, a Food Aid program was launched on 10th March in one of the busy streets of the town. Led by Ms Nicolyn Wellin, a Health Promoter assigned in Semporna, she collaborated with the government and was given a permit to regularly distribute food for these street children. A total of 40+ kids were given priority during the launching. This will be an ongoing project by the Eight Treasures-Sabah chapter.
