Thank you International Association for Su***de Prevention (IASP) for recognizing the advocacy work that we do.

We are truly honored to have Puan Alia Ali, the Founder of AWareness Against Su***de (AWAS) to be featuring in IASP's podcast.

May this sharing carry the message of hope & healing for others whom have loss a loved ones to su***de.

It is indeed a difficult topic to discuss and therefore the more reason we should be normalizing these cinversations so that people do not suffer alone and in silence.

A big shout out to Prof Chan Lai Fong for being a wonderfully compassionate host for the interview! ❤️

Today is International Survivors of Su***de Loss Day.

It isn't a day to celebrate, but a day to commemorate the lost time that can bring the raw emotion right back to the forefront.

Losing a loved one to su***de is a traumatic experience. Individuals who have lost a loved one to su***de can experience a form of grieving that is especially intense. And this experience can be further exacerbated by societal stigma around mental health and su***de.

If you know someone who have lost someone to su***de, please let them know that they are not alone in their healing journey ♡.

For emotional support and for more info, kindly contact us at 010-2344808 (whatsapp only). Thank you.

Vulnerability is not a weakness!

Vulnerability is strength because it fosters authentic relationships, empathy, and courage, while often being mistakenly perceived as weakness.

Being vulnerable allows for genuine connections, enables you to work through emotions, and shows bravery in facing your fears and imperfections. And know this..., everytime you share a vulnerable side of yourself, you normalize it for someone else to not be afraid of opening up and sharing their struggles ♡

The theme for World Mental Health 2025 is "Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies".

This theme emphasizes the critical need for mental health support during crises like conflicts, natural disasters, and health emergencies, ensuring that people affected by these events can access the help they need to cope and recover.

It highlights how emergencies severely impact mental health, with studies showing that nearly everyone affected experiences distress and a significant portion develops a mental health condition.

Access to mental health and psychosocial support in emergencies is considered a lifesaving intervention that helps prevent long-term harm, reduce su***de risks, and build resilience for individuals and communities.

Do know that you are not alone! .malaysia is here for you. We are here to provide mental health and psychosocial support for those who are struggling with their mental health and/or experiencing suicidality, as well as those who have been impacted by su***de loss.

Reach out.. we can end the stigma, and create a more meaningful life together! ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Place your hand on your heart and ask: does the voice of men matter?💬

Yes, communities suffer. Not from the echoes of broken men’s rage, but from the insufficient voices of healed men. These words reflect a reality - the sharp rise in social issues involving men, and the urgent need for men themselves to create a safe space where they can be heard, supported, and guided towards intervention.🫴🏻

'Suara Lelaki: A Safe Space to Be Heard, Support & Grow'❤️‍🩹🌿– This free dialogue series conducted in Malay language brings together men aged 25 to 65, from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, with a focus on men’s mental health: emotion management and perspective.

✳️It is a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for men to express their feelings, share experiences, and learn from one another.

💡Taking into account cultural and religious sensitivities, this program aims to provide a platform to address root issues such as emotional suppression, mental stress, uncontrolled anger, childhood trauma, absence of father figures, addiction, social isolation, mental health stigma, and toxic masculinity — challenges that increasingly affect men, especially young men, across faiths, cultures, races, and borders.

📚Through a combination of storytelling, dialogue, emotional literacy, psychological approaches, and moral values, the mission of this program is to break toxic masculine norms and build a new narrative that supports healthy self-development for men in Malaysia — and eventually across Asia and beyond. An empowered man uplifts, empowers, and protects the women around him: embodying the true meaning of strength and of life itself.
