Fungal infection of the scalp is not just ordinary dandruff — it can cause itching, hair loss, and scaly patches on the scalp.

🧬 Symptoms:
• Itchy, scaly patches on the scalp
• Hair loss (bald patches)
• Black dots due to broken hair strands
• Redness or swelling of the scalp
• Sometimes pus formation (kerion)

⚠️ How it spreads:
• Direct contact with an infected person
• Sharing personal items such as combs, hats, or towels
• Infected pets such as cats and dogs

🧬 Main cause:
Dermatophyte fungi such as Trichophyton and Microsporum

💡 Prevention:
• Avoid sharing personal items like combs, hats, and towels
• Maintain good scalp hygiene regularly
• Treat infected pets promptly
• Practice proper hand hygiene

Noticing white, reddish, or darker patches on your chest or back? It could be Tinea Versicolor (Panau) — a common superficial fungal infection in hot and humid climates.

🦠 Cause:
Caused by Malassezia, a type of fungus that normally lives on the skin but can overgrow under certain conditions.

🧬 Symptoms:
• Light, dark, or reddish patches on the skin
• Fine scaling
• Mild or no itching (more noticeable when sweating)
• Commonly appears on the chest, back, neck, and arms

⚠️ Risk Factors:
• Hot and humid weather
• Oily skin
• Excessive sweating
• Weakened immune system

💡 Prevention:
• Keep skin clean and dry
• Avoid excessive sweating
• Use antifungal shampoo or products if prone to recurrence
• Wear loose, breathable clothing
