⭐ *Easy Guide to Indigestion & Heartburn* ⭐

*What is it?*
Indigestion feels like discomfort or heaviness in your upper stomach. Heartburn is a burning pain that rises to the throat when stomach acid flows back into the oesophagus.

💡 *Simple Self-Care Tips*
- Reduce spicy, oily foods and drinks that irritate your stomach (alcohol, coffee, tea, cola, energy drinks)
- Eat smaller portions, eat slowly and chew well
- Avoid eating 2–3 hours before bed; don’t lie down right after meals
- Take a short walk after eating; avoid exercise right after a heavy meal
- Sleep with your head slightly raised (pillow)
- Maintain a healthy weight & avoid smoking

Should you cut/crush your tablet?

Many tablets are specially designed (SR, ER, CR, MR, EC) to release medicine slowly or protect the drug/stomach. When you cut or crush them, the whole dose may release at once (dose dumping), the drug may get destroyed, or it may irritate the stomach. This can lead to toxicity, reduced effectiveness, or treatment failure.

Some medicines become dangerous when powdered, exposing you or your family to hormonal, cytotoxic, or irritant particles. Splitting also causes uneven doses, especially for medicines with a narrow safety range.

Always check with a pharmacist before altering any tablet.
