Zen Chiropractic was founded by Dr. Aaron Lum in the store room of his parent’s house.
After graduating from IMU as a Doctor of Chiropractic, he first started to work in a well-know healthcare chain in Kuala Lumpur. Every time he came back to Penang, his family friends and neighbors would come to him for treatment, as there was relatively less chiropractor in Penang back then, so it’s very difficult to get appointments.
“How can I stay in my comfort zone in Kuala Lumpur while there are so many people who need me in my home town ?” Dr Aaron asked himself. After giving a thorough consideration, Dr Aaron decided to come back and serve his fellow Penangites. After all, he was born and raised in Penang.
PASSION DRIVEN
To set up a full scale chiropractic clinic was very capital intensive, because the equipment were very expensive. The young doctor did not have much capital at that point of time. However, his great passion to change lives helped him to overcome the many limitation of capital. He started the business with just one portable chiropractic table in his store room.
He knew the importance of continuous self improvement. During his off days, he spent time learning the traditional Chinese Way of Bone and Muscle Alignment (Tit-tar and Qiao-Kin), and integrate it to his treatment, which improved his treatment effectiveness later on.
INTEGRATED TREATMENT
As time goes by, more and more people are getting healed in the little store room chiropractic clinic and Dr Aaron gained popularity. However, he noticed that there are still a portion of people with conditions that tends to relapse very easily even after treatment.
One day he read about acupuncture and he was impressed by the “Chi” theory. He thought that with his chiropractic adjustment to free up all nerve compression and interference, the stimulation from acupuncture could help his patient to heal better. He then went to further diversify his knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in USM, and then obtained his Advanced Clinical Accupucture qualification in China.
By combining the eastern and western technique, he managed to heal many patients with complex conditions. His reputation slowly spread through word of mouth and patients started to refer friends and family who have spine or muscle issues to him.
Having the vision to provide the best treatment for his fellow Penangite in mind, he did not spend his earnings to pamper himself. He started to invest heavily into the most advanced healing technology imported from Europe to his treatment. The investment is proven fruitful, as his patients recovered faster than before.
SCALING UP
As the number of patients grow, the store room can no longer provide the enough place for the demand, some new patients would have to wait for weeks to obtain appointment slots. Dr Aaron then set up his company in 8, Jalan Pantai Jerjak 15, and started a full scale Integrated Chiropractic Clinic in September 2016.
With his great perseverance to give the best to his patients, the treatment capacity of Zen Chiropractic has doubled as of today compared to September 2016. Not forgetting his passion to change lives, Dr. Aaron participates and organize Charity treatments for people in need. As the company grows Dr Aaron never forgets his mission to make chiropractic treatment affordable and available to the society. While the advanced Zen Integrated treatment is proven to be more effective, the cost that comes with the use of latest technology is transferred to the patient. Zen Lite is an initiative by Dr Aaron to make maintaining a healthy body affordable and time efficient.
Zen Lite employs a lighter form of treatment to treat mild conditions and monthly maintenance patient at a more affordable price. We reserves the powerful machines and advanced acupuncture needling only for patients with advanced conditions.
