Having severe Low back pain? Not every back pain is disc buldge or muscle strain. It might be your Sacroiliac (SI) joint.
That deep ache on one side of your lower back, pain when standing up, walking, or rolling in bed, SI joint is a common culprit.
✨ The SI joint connects your spine to your pelvis
and plays a huge role in stability, load transfer, and movement.
✨ Pain is usually localised to the low back, but sometimes can be referred to buttock region
✨ It is usually a result of some sort of trauma or fall. Some may be due to systemic inflammatory arthritis.
💊 Treatment included;
- Physical and manual therapy to reduce pain and improve mobility
- Core & glute strengthening to improve pelvic stability
- Oral analgesia/medications
💉 When conservative management fails, an Ultrasound guided injection can be useful in reducing pain. Following that, Cryoneurolysis or Radiofrequency can provide longer term pain relief.
❄️ Cryoneurolysis is a minimally invasive treatment that uses controlled cold delivered via a needle probe, to temporarily interrupt pain signals from the nerves around the SI joint. It is a bedside, Daycare procedure.
When pain is reduced, you can move better, strengthen properly, and finally make progress in rehabilitation. If your low back pain feels stubborn or keeps coming back, it’s time to look deeper.
