Oranjemund Town Council The Oranjemund Town Council is governed by its Municipal Council in terms of the Local Authority Act, Act 23 of 1992.

Our mandate is to develop the town and to uplift and maintain the community's living standards by providing the best municipal services TERMS OF USE AND DISCLAIMER

Please be informed that the Oranjemund Town Council offices will be closed on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, in observance of the Public Holiday for the Regional and Local Authorities Elections.

Residents are encouraged to go out and vote and exercise their civic duty in shaping the future of our community.

For your convenience, please make use of online payments and other electronic modes of payment during this period. Normal office operations will resume on Thursday, 27 November 2025.

Celebrating the Service and Leadership of Our Outgoing Councillors

Thursday, 20 November 2025 - The Mayor of Oranjemund, His Worship Elias Kasemba, expressed heartfelt appreciation to all councillors for their unity, dedication, and service throughout their five-year term (2020–2025). He commended the Council for setting politics aside and working together across party lines to prioritise the development of Oranjemund and the well-being of its residents. During the ceremony, His Worship the Mayor presented Certificates of Service to the outgoing councillors in recognition of their contribution to governance and town development.
In turn, the Acting CEO, Mr. Festus Nekayi, presented a Certificate of Service to the Mayor on behalf of the Oranjemund Town Council, recognising his outstanding leadership as Mayor of Oranjemund from 2020–2025. His guidance has significantly contributed to the development and progress of the town, and the Council sincerely appreciates his dedicated service. His Worship further extended special thanks to:
Cllr. Guame Stephanus (LPM) – Chairperson of the Management Committee
Recognised for his hard work, dedication, leadership, and teamwork as Chairperson of the Management Committee from 2020–2025. His efforts have strengthened governance and driven the development and progress of Oranjemund.
Cllr. Rakkel Amutenya (IPC) – Member of MC & Council
Acknowledged for her tireless efforts, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment as a Member of the Management Committee and Council from 2020–2025. Her dedication has advanced the development of the town, and the Council sincerely appreciates her service.
Cllr. Toivo Auala (SWAPO) – Member of Council
Appreciated for his passion, dedication, and positive energy as a Member of Council from 2020–2025. As one of the longest-serving councillors since the inception of the Town Council, his continuous support and commitment have contributed greatly to the growth of Oranjemund.

Furthermore, the Council also acknowledges the service and contribution of the following councillors during the 2020–2025 term:

• Sekunda Tsheya Petrus (SWAPO) – Deputy Mayor of Oranjemund
• Leopold Haihambo (IPC) – Member of MC and Council
• Leena Vaille (SWAPO) – Member of Council

Their teamwork and commitment have played an important role in advancing community development and council operations. The Oranjemund Town Council extends its sincere gratitude to all outgoing councillors for their dedication, unity, and service.

PUBLIC NOTICE - ORANJEMUND TOWN COUNCIL HOUSING SCHEME NOTICE TO BENEFICIARIES: OCCUPATION & KEY COLLECTION FOR COMPLETED HOUSES

The Oranjemund Town Council hereby informs the 56 beneficiaries of the Oranjemund Town Council Housing Scheme that 20 houses are now completed and ready for occupation. Beneficiaries whose units are among the completed houses as per the below list; should visit the Property Office regarding the occupation schedule and key collection arrangements as of 20 November 2025.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
Before keys can be handed over, all beneficiaries are required to ensure the following are completed:
Lease Agreement – Must be completed and signed with the Property Section.
Municipal Services Account – Must be opened with the Finance Department.
Deposit Payment – Required deposit must be settled in full.
Municipal Account – Must be cleared with no outstanding arrears.

Only beneficiaries who have met all the above requirements will be eligible for key handover and occupation. For enquiries, kindly contact the Property Office at Oranjemund Town Council during office hours (063 233500).
