Namibia has been named Africaโs Best Adventure Tourism Destination at the 2025 Africa Tourism Awards (Balearica Awards), held in London on 2 November. Swakopmund was also recognised as the countryโs leading adventure hub.
The award recognises Namibiaโs progress in promoting adventure tourism, sustainability, community impact and environmental stewardship.
Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) chief executive Sebulon Chicalu said the acknowledgement strengthens the countryโs position as a competitive adventure destination in Africa.
The 2025 Balearica Awards took place at the Hilton London Canary Wharf and brought together tourism professionals, government representatives, travel brands, airlines and media from across the continent. The event presented 35 awards across 29 categories, recognising achievements in destinations, sustainability, media, hospitality and leadership.
Key destination awards included:

โข Best Tourism Board: Kenya Tourism Board
โข Best Country Destination: Mauritius
โข Best City Destination: Cape Town
โข Best Safari Destination: Maasai Mara National Park
The Africa Tourism Awards aim to promote travel to the continent and highlight leadership and innovation in the tourism sector.
