Dr. Barry Richter

Specialist in gynaecology, Urogynecology, pelvic pain management and laparoscopic surgery in Windhoek and Bloemfontein.

Dr. Barry Richter is a Gynaecologist with special interest and training in the evaluation and endoscopic treatment of endometriosis, pelvic pain, pelvic adhesions and certain cases of pelvic relaxation and incontinence. He is trained and experienced in the treatment of the whole spectrum of gynaecological disorders as well as well-woman care, including infertility and abnormal bleeding. He performs total laparoscopic hysterectomy and laparoscopic treatment of advanced endometriosis, female prolapse and female incontinence. He has worked in Canada, New York, Pennsylvania and the Cayman Islands and feels privileged to have been trained by Dr. Harry Reich, a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Reich performed the first total laparoscopic hysterectomy in 1989. He is presently responsible head of gynaecological endoscopy at the University of the Free State and the Universitas Hospital. His responsibilities include the training of residents and specialist gynaecologists in advanced laparoscopic techniques. He maintains private practices in Bloemfontein, South Africa and has reestablished a practice in the Cayman Islands (previously home for over 13 years) on a part time basis. Dr. Richter is licensed to practice as a specialist in the Cayman Islands and South Africa and is on the permanent specialist register of Canada. Qualifications: MBChB, LMCC, MMed(O&G), FRCS(C).

I am starting a new practice in Namibia at the fantastic Lady Pohamba Private Hospital. I will still be providing urogynaecology, gynaecology and endoscopic surgery, neuropelveology, aesthetic gynaecology and menopause management.
