Time to find the culprits!
A huge thank you, Namibia!
People from all walks of life have come together in an incredible show of unity and commitment.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Black rhinos in the Kunene Region are more than just an iconic species — they’re the heartbeat of a wildlife economy that sustains thousands of Namibian livelihoods. These rhinos are the foundation of a world-renowned community tourism model. If they disappear, so too would a significant part of the tourism that supports local jobs and families. The wildlife economy touches the lives of over 240,000 rural Namibians and contributes meaningfully to Namibia’s GDP. Tourism directly employs more than 60,000 Namibians, but its impact stretches far beyond that — feeding businesses, families, and communities across the country. For decades, Kunene’s conservancies and local communities have protected black rhinos, making the region a flagship for the conservation of this critically endangered species.
THE POWER OF UNITY
This reward — raised mainly by Namibians — sends a clear and powerful message:
➡️ Informants are more valuable than poachers.
➡️ Poaching in the Kunene Region will be met with a strong and united response — not just from law enforcement, but from the people of Namibia, especially those from the Kunene Region.
The communities and conservancies of Kunene protect the world’s largest population of free-roaming black rhinos, and in doing so, they protect their own future.
Black rhinos are not only a conservation triumph — they’re a cornerstone of Namibia’s tourism success and a vital source of local livelihoods.
