NamPower Protects Rural Zambezi Schools
NamPower has invested over N$ 800 000 to fence off school premises at the Kakiramupepo and Mbilajwe primary schools in the
Zambezi region. Both schools are situated in the Dzoti Conservancy area prone to the presence of wild animals, posing constant risks to learners and teachers.
In addition to wildlife threats, Mbilajwe Primary School also faces challenges of vandalism and theft of school furniture by community members. The two schools cater from pre-primary to Grade 7, serving young children in vulnerable environments.
Recognizing these difficulties, the NamPower Foundation supported the two schools by fencing off the premises, as well as to provide gardening equipment to support food production initiatives.
"These fences are more than just a boundary, it is a symbol of protection. Education thrives in an environment where learners and educators feel safe and protected, and these two new fences are the step towards creating that secure space," said NamPower Foundation Head, Otilie Mujoro, at the handing over ceremony.
