*ANSWER:* Yes it is compulsory to open a new bank account when you're in camp.

*2). QUESTION:* I have a bank account before, do I still need to open another new bank account at the Orientation Camp?

*ANSWER:* Yes, it is compulsory. Every corp Members is obligated to open a new bank account during camp registration.

*3). QUESTION:* What type of account is it, is it different from the normal day to day bank account?

*ANSWER:* It is the usual "savings account", and not different from the normal day to day "savings" bank account.

*4). QUESTION:* Where are we to go in order to open the NYSC bank account, are we allowed to go to places outside the Orientation Camp to open it?

*ANSWER:* No, you won't be allowed to go outside the camp gate. Staff from different banks will be available in camp to help you facilitate the process.

*5). QUESTION:* Is it possible to open the new account before going to camp?

*ANSWER:* No it is not possible. Opening NYSC allowance account is one among the stages you undergo during camp registration. NYSC must clear you before you will open the account. In fact, it's your camp clearance documents you would use to open the account.

*6). QUESTION:* You said different banks' agents would be available in camp to help us open the account, which of the banks should I go for?

*ANSWER:* NYSC will allocate banks according to your state code. So go to the bank you've been assigned to.

*7). QUESTION:* Must the name I used for BVN match with the one I am using for NYSC?

*ANSWER* : NO

*8). QUESTION:* What are the documents required for opening NYSC allowance account?

*ANSWER:* The documents which will be required of you are: Your Passport photograph, BVN and NYSC clearance paper which you will get after you have completed the necessary camp registrations. Your full name would be written bold altogether in all your documents.

*9). QUESTION:* What if I do not have bank account or BVN?

*ANSWER:* You should go and get one now; if you are really serious about NYSC. Because having NO BVN is an automatic disqualification.

*10). QUESTION:* Then what should I do if the name on my BVN doesn't match with the one in my Documents?

*ANSWER:* Yes, NYSC allowance is compulsory to receive. If you didn't receive it, you probably may not pass out of the programme. Receiving NYSC allowance is a prove that you are serving; To receive it involve lot of clearance which prove you're indeed serving. If for any reason you don't need the cash, collect it and give it to someone who is in serious need. You should have friends who need financial assistance.

*12). QUESTION:* Can I use my NYSC account to receive money from family and friends?

*ANSWER:* Yes, you can even use it to do business transactions or international transaction.

*13). QUESTION:* What if the Federal Government mistakenly pay me double allowance?

*ANSWER:* Better return it to the NYSC state secretariat, during your final clearance they will request for Bank statement of account from day one. The rationale behind it is to catch those that are being paid double.

*14). QUESTION:* What will happen to my NYSC allowance account after my one year service?

*ANSWER:* NYSC will stop paying your monthly allowance. But you will continue using the account for other transactions.

📝 *CONCLUSION*
some people May still not be able to access their alawee funds even after bank registration at Camp... Don't worry if this happens. Just visit your Bank once you're out of camp to rectify. Some Banks requires you to visit Their branch and further supply some documents in addition to the ones supplied in camp Bank opening before your account becomes fully functional.

*FG APPROVES 50,000 ADDITIONAL SLOTS FOR 2026 NYSC MOBILISATION*

The Federal Government has approved an additional 50,000 slots for the 2026 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Mobilisation in response to the growing number of graduates awaiting enlistment for the national service.

The Director-General (DG) of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, disclosed this in Abuja during the inauguration of the remodelled Clinic at the Scheme's National Directorate Headquarters in commemoration of the first anniversary of his assumption of duty as its Chief Executive.

Nafiu, who said the extra slots had already been captured in the Scheme’s 2026 budget, also revealed that further provisions had been secured in the Federal Government’s 2027 budget cycle to improve the quality of Corps members’ kits, feeding and transportation allowances.

The DG said the Scheme was targeting the mobilisation of about 450,000 prospective Corps members this year while remaining mindful of their safety.

“This year, we are mobilising about 450,000 prospective Corps members and, as much as possible, we avoid deploying them to red zones. We remain mindful because we owe parents the responsibility of safeguarding the lives of their children,” he said.

He thanked Nigerians for their renewed interest in the NYSC and commended the continued support the Scheme had received from governments at all levels.

Nafiu also praised his predecessor, Brigadier General Yusha'u Ahmed, and the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, for their roles in facilitating Presidential approval of the new N77,000 monthly allowance for Corps members.

The NYSC boss explained that the remodelling and upgrade of the headquarters clinic was part of his administration's initiatives aimed at improving staff welfare and efficiency.

Reviewing other accomplishments made under his leadership in the past year, Nafiu said the 2025 staff promotion exercise was conducted to enhance career progression and boost morale within the Scheme.

The DG added that peculiar allowances were facilitated for staff, retirement benefits were paid to disengaged personnel, and a recruitment exercise was successfully carried out to strengthen the organisation’s operational capacity.

He also disclosed that the Scheme secured the donation of a compressed natural gas (CNG) bus to enhance mobility for both staff and Corps members.

He affirmed that his administration had sustained industrial harmony within the organisation through an open-door leadership style.

General Nafiu said efforts were underway to reposition the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme through strategic partnerships.

According to him, the Scheme has partnered with the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University to digitise the SAED platform.

He added that the present Management had also collaborated with the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), the Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGON), and other stakeholders to strengthen support for the Scheme.

“We will continue to strengthen infrastructure, deepen youth empowerment initiatives, enhance welfare and security, and uphold the ideals of fairness, unity and national service that define the NYSC,” Nafiu said.

In his remarks, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, who inaugurated the remodelled clinic, said the upgraded facility would improve staff welfare and enhance productivity.

The minister described General Nafiu as a hardworking Director-General whose initiatives had led to notable achievements within a short period in office.

He also commended the NYSC boss for his welfare-driven leadership since assuming duty.

Olawande assured that the Ministry of Youth Development would continue to support the Scheme in delivering greater impact for Nigerian youths.

“We are working to transform and reform the NYSC. We are doing everything possible to secure the future of our Corps members,” the minister said.

He also advised Corps members to avoid travelling at night.

“When you are travelling and it is getting late, locate the nearest military barracks, police station or NYSC office and spend the night there,” he advised.

- Kindly be informed that there is a difference between *Medical Fitness* and *Medical Report.*

*▪️Medical Fitness Certificate * means a certificate attesting to a person's fitness to perform the duties which that person will carry out in NYSC camp. Medical fitness is *COMPULSORY * Without medical fitness, you won’t be allowed to register in camp.

*Medical Report* means the results of a medical examination of a patient.

This is why I always tell you guys not to take every post you see about NYSC serious until it’s made official.

NB: I will advice you all to register if you have the chance even if you want to go with next batch.

REGARDING TO THE MOBILIZATION TIME TABLE NYSC RELEASED.

ONLINE registration will not hold if only NYSC has enough registred CORPERS yet. In that case there will be need to finish already registered PCM to allow new registration.

Most dates here will be moved forward bcos going by the information above will place camp ending in May. That’s almost half the year and will affect other camp dates.

So those that haven’t registered don’t panic just make sure everything documents are availabe and await the final date from NYSC.

NB: NYSC has not officially mandated NERD Clearance for service. But still go ahead with it to be on a safer side.


*9 Things Nobody Will Tell You About NYSC*

If you are about to start NYSC or you’ve even started already we know you’ve probably heard a ton about how the whole program works. But there are some things nobody will tell you about on average how the program spans, and am here to help you out.

*1. Un-meet expectations*

NYSC just like life, we should know that not all our expectations will be met every time. Majority of the graduate wouldn't serve at major cities. Don’t die on the line trying to get Lagos, Abuja or Rivers.

*2. Standing for queue will test your patience *

At least there is no traffic there.
If they tell you to come by 8 a.m for anything, sometime it means you should come at 12 p.m

*3. Expect the worst*

Don’t waste your precious time. Expect NYSC to frustrate you like everything else in Nigeria is designed to do but in total it’s really not a bad experience.

*4. Don't always go for comfort *

If you get posted to an unfamiliar state just stay there and explore a different culture.

Are you not tired of seeing yellow buses and Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge? You want to spend your whole life in Lagos that’s why you think there are only three tribes in Nigeria.

The best experience are often times away from the comfort of the city and whenever you are if you are lucky you can get retained at your PPA.

*5. Camp is stressful, don't join others in the activities *

Camp is a great place for you to meet people that can help your life. And the activities is part of how to build that bond.
*
6. Khaki is strong*

The khaki they’ll give you is not loyal any small rough play and the thing will tear and disgrace you.

So you better be careful with it and maybe sew a backup at camp if you can, but before you overdo remember you are wearing it legally for only one year.

*7. NYSC is not worth it*

Ask them why did they go for it, the trust is that everyone cherish the experience they have during the program and when it’s all done you’ll actually miss it a little bit.

At least you were collecting 33,000 every month instead of sitting at home.

*8. Don't let your desires lead you astray*

All those ones that’ll tell you not to go for monthly clearance that they’ll help you work it, you’ll be there looking when your mates are passing out.

*9. Fake promises*

All the Uncles and Aunties that told you to wait for NYSC to finish before you bring your C.V. will suddenly disappear.

*NOW LETS LOOK AT THE STAGES OF NYSC MOBILIZATION*

(Take your time to read and digest)

There is something important you need to know so that you don’t get confused or put yourself under any undue stress. NYSC mobilization is in stages and once you understand the stages, every other thing will be easy.

▫️ *1st STAGE: Internal Mobilization*

This is when institutions will start compiling their senate list to know graduates that are qualified for NYSC mobilization ( this is d stage u re at currently).

The result of the internal mobilization is the approved senate list. Which will be pasted at the school premises for graduates to check their names and details.

At this stage even if you are not close to school, pls have someone take a picture of it and forward to you. Go through and make sure that your details are well represented.

▫️ *2nd STAGE: Senate List Hard Copy*

The second stage is when your institution will send the hard copy of the approved Senate List straight to NYSC Headquarters Abuja for verification before it will be uploaded on the NYSC portal. ( any error you fail to correct on the previous point will hunt you if you allow it to proceed to this stage, to avoid getting to maiduguri and be sent home, be on d look out for mistakes pls)

This stage is very necessary for the NYSC management because of some institutions that fraudulently mobilize unqualified graduates for NYSC.

*▫️3rd STAGE: Senate List Online*

The 3rd stage is when the senate list after thorough examination by the NYSC management will be finally uploaded on the NYSC portal online. Once your institution’s Senate List is successfully uploaded, you will be able to do your online registration successfully. ( NIGERIAN TRAINED GRADUATE TAKE NOTE)

*▫️4th STAGE: PCMs Senate List Verification*

The 4th stage is when prospective Corps members will start verifying their names on the NYSC portal before they can proceed with NYSC registration.

*▫️5th STAGE* : *Registration*

Please ensure you are eligible to register before you proceed. Upload all the necessary credentials as needed. Ensure you do the thumbprint as required.

*▫️6th STAGE*: *Printing of green card *

All PCM’s are required to print the green card from their dashboard which is part of the required documents to present at the Nysc orientation camp.

*▫️7th STAGE*: *Printing of NYSC call up letter*

NYSC call-up letter is simply a letter that will show your state of deployment, other important information like camp address and date of reporting.

*▫️8th STAGE*: *NYSC 21days orientation course*

A National Youth Service Corps year starts with a 3 weeks orientation course and it is compulsory for all Nigeria graduates mobilised for national service.

*▫️9th STAGE*: *Place of Primary assignment (PPA)*

On the last day in orientation camp, you will collect a letter that will specify the particular place where you will do your service. That is the place you will spend the whole of your service year immediately you leave camp.

Other stages like CDs and other activities comes later.
