Every time someone says:

‘I’ve tried everything, but nothing works … ‘

Here’s my response:

It’s not about trying everything

It’s about doing the right things, the right way, and for the right time.

I call this the R3 Formula (Results Equation):

✅️ The Right Things (The What)
✅️ The Right Way (The How)
✅️ The Right Time (The When & How Long)

And inside the Right Way, there’s a mini-system that drives your progress - the F.I.C.E. model:

Frequency: how often you do the things

Intensity: what is the right intensity for the right things?

Consistency: how well you are sticking with the plan

Effort: how much you give

So no, you don’t need to ‘try everything’.

You need to master the R3 Formula and the FICE model.

That’s when results become inevitable.

I've seen it 100s of times. Day 1 - you struggle to do even the most basic movements and then several weeks/months later - you are pushing, pulling, squatting, jumping, and moving with so much grace and confidence.

Not every workout has to be beast mode 💪 - and that’s okay. 👍

The other day, I went to the gym, did my warm up .. and just sat there. I was tired, sleep-deprived, and my back was acting up. I had 2 options: force myself to push through or pack up and go home. 

Omo, I went home o. 😀

Years ago, I would’ve pushed through. I was part of the ‘train hard or go home’ gang then. But now, a few decades and injuries later, I’ve learned to listen to my body more. My goals have also changed: 

Then - I wanted performance, 6-pack abs, strength, and endurance. 🏀

Now - I want energy, mobility, health, staying lean and pain-free long term. 🏋‍♀️

In the Future - I want to stay strong, independent, and healthy into my 70s and beyond (God Willing). 🏥

That’s why I use my simple 3-Step SSP framework to help me decide whether to:

✅️ Scale Down

Ever wondered how many calories are in the foods you eat?

I'll share with you the calorie and key nutrient values for some of your favorite foods including - Jollof Rice, Eba, Pounded Yam, Moi Moi, Fried Plaintain, and others.

In addition, for each food, I'll give you the type and duration of exercise & physical activity it will take to 'burn' the calories in it.

If you like Kpomo (cow skin) then by all means enjoy it, but don't tell me you eat it for the protein. That's like me saying I eat ice cream 🍨 because it's sweet (and I have a sweet tooth) when I really eat it because em em, yeah, my doctor prescribed it. It's true. See comments for my doctor's number and call him to confirm.

Ladies? Will you build muscle if you engage in strength training? Yep! But it's the 'good' kind. The kind that gives you that tone you desire with your legs, arms, belly, and back. Except you have superior genetics, train and eat like a bodybuilder, and take 'enhancement' drugs then there is no chance you'll look bulky.

It's the beginning of the year and I bet some folks have started the seasonal 7-, 14-, and 30-day without ______ (insert carb food - bread, rice, pasta, etc) challenge. Know this - carbs alone don't cause weight loss. Yes, low-carb diets, like low fat, keto, intermittent fasting - can lead to weight loss if it puts you in a calorie deficit consistently. For weight loss, watch your total calories first then macros (fat, protein, carbs) next.

After your diet, strength and metabolic resistance training has the biggest potential to change your body in favour of lean, fit, and strong.

Do you have to lift heavy ass weights? No, not necessarily but you've definitely need to push your body with some good resistance.

Like my clients here - battling the rope (while moving in a squat stance) and pulling the tire. It looks easier than it is but I assure you it's a burner.
