Healthcare Service Transformation cannot be achieved without ICT
Disease control and prevention, patient management and health information systems, and diagnosis and treatment are critical components of health care delivery. Appropriate information and communication technologies can dramatically enhance their reach and effectiveness.
A modern national health ICT infrastructure is the essential first step to achieving this
transformation, enabling clinical information to be passed securely and quickly between
practitioners, and medical instructions communicated clearly and quickly using
electronic means for increased patient safety.
It will no longer acceptable for healthcare providers to jeopardise patient safety through poor or non-existent clinical documentations.
The next leap in healthcare quality and cost effectiveness will come about because of
improved ICT. Many European countries have already embarked on this journey, and a
recent study sponsored by the Swedish EU presidency1 indicates the dramatic benefits
being achieved.
To begin the realisation of such a vision in Africa, we at Hubado better healthcare channel is committed to substantially increasing our investment in, and our effective use of ICT. The Health care providers needs to focus on a structured, prioritised implementation programme, working in partnership with Hubado better healthcare channel to leverage heavily the skill and capacity of the industry in multiple areas, including process re-engineering, systems development, system operations and
system absorption.
