SOME CHILDHOOD DISEASES THAT ARE SEEN AS MINOR BUT HAS THE TENDENCY OF NEGATIVE OUTCOMES IN OUR ADULTHOOD
Most people face health problems at some point in their lives, but it is important to take care of our growing children, because some diseases that we can take for granted tend to affect their adulthood. Adolescence is a period of transition between childhood and adulthood, and during this time social, cultural and biological changes can affect the transition, which can lead to serious health problems. About 22% of the population of India is between the ages of 10 and 19 years and it has been found that most of these childhood diseases can lead to health problems if they are not managed properly. These illnesses/diseases are: pediatric depression, eating disorder and obesity childhood asthma, diabetes, etc.
1. Depression
According to the WHO, depression is the third leading cause of disability and illness in adolescents,research has shown that depression can occur as early as age 3.it is generally referred to as extreme sadness.Many factors can lead to mental health problems. Violence, feelings of worthlessness and depression are some of the reasons for mental health problems in teenagers. The years 10-19 are crucial periods in their lives and teenagers need to get the right mental support from an early age.Depression affect all ages,no one is too small to be depressed
2. Eating Disorder and obesity
Eating disorders often referred to as irregular eating pattern of food.when developed during childhood, can significantly impact an individual's physical, emotional, and psychological well-being into adulthood.This type of problem is mainly related to teenagers and is mainly found in developing countries where teenagers are malnourished and more exposed to diseases such as cognitive impairment. On the contrary, many teenagers face the problem of obesity and other illness
3. Untreated childhood asthma: Asthma is a condition that affects the airways in the lungs.If persists from childhood can lead to chronic breathing problems and reduced lung function in adulthood.
4. Childhood diabetes (diabetes mellitus) occurs when the body does not control the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood,which can develop during childhood, can have really significant long-term effects if not managed properly. Children with type 1 diabetes require lifelong insulin therapy and careful blood sugar management. If it is not managed properly, it can lead to complications such as cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, damage to the blood vessels in the eye.
These conditions illustrate the importance of monitoring and treating complications that can arise from childhood illnesses.
Therefore,it is very important to look at for our children to avoid these certain outcomes in their adulthood
