This is the mucus plug.
During pregnancy, the cervix is sealed with a thick, jelly-like plug of mucus that protects the baby from infections. As the body prepares for labor, especially around 37 weeks, the cervix begins to soften and open, and this plug can come out.
It can look clear, whitish, jelly-like, or slightly blood-streaked. It may come out all at once or in pieces. Losing it means the body is getting ready for labor, but labor may still be hours, days, or even a week away..
this is a sign the body is preparing for delivery, not something to panic about, but something to monitor closely.
