🚨 PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: DIPHTHERIA OUTBREAK IN LAGOS STATE 🚨

What is Diphtheria?

Diphtheria is a highly contagious bacterial infection that affects the throat and respiratory system, potentially leading to serious complications if not treated early.

Symptoms to Watch Out For:

• Sore throat and difficulty in swallowing;

• Thick grey or white coating on the throat and tonsils;

• Fever and chills;

• Swollen glands in the neck; and

• Weakness and difficulty breathing...

How to Protect Yourself and Your Family:

1. Ensure you and your children are fully vaccinated (DPT vaccine);

2. Maintain good hygiene - wash hands regularly;

3. Proper sanitation;

3. Avoid close contact with infected persons; and

4. Seek immediate medical help if you notice symptoms...

The Lagos State Government and other health authorities are working to contain the spread, but we must all do our part by staying informed and vigilant.
