What is Intraocular Pressure (IOP)?
Definition: IOP is the pressure of the liquid inside the eye.
Function: It helps maintain the eye's shape and keeps it functioning properly.
Measurement: IOP is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg).
Normal Range: A healthy IOP is generally between 10 and 20 mmHg, though some sources state 10 to 21 mmHg.

Why is IOP Important?
Glaucoma Risk Factor: Consistently high IOP is a major risk factor for glaucoma, which damages the optic nerve and can cause vision loss.
Monitoring Eye Health: Regular IOP checks are crucial for monitoring eye health and detecting potential problems like ocular hypertension (high IOP without optic nerve damage).
