📢‼️Today, on World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day, let's talk about the unsung heroes and the vital fight against this preventable disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) strategy for elimination rests on three pillars: Prevention (Vaccination), Screening, and Treatment.

Radiation Therapists (RTs) play an absolutely crucial and non-negotiable role in the Treatment pillar, particularly for patients with locally advanced or recurrent cervical cancer.

We play a role delivering curative treatment for many stages of cervical cancer, Radiotherapy (often combined with chemotherapy, or chemoradiation) is the standard treatment, often replacing or supplementing surgery.

External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT): Radiation Therapist operate the linear accelerators (LINACs) to deliver precise, high-energy photon beams to the pelvis, targeting the tumor and surrounding lymph nodes.

Radiation Therapist, provide constant reassurance, manage patient anxiety, and create a caring, supportive environment during a stressful time.

The RT's role is not just technical; it is a blend of high-tech precision and high-touch compassion, making them indispensable to achieving the goal of cervical cancer elimination.

• Radiographers use complex technology (like X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasonography Mammography, LINAC, and nuclear medicine) to create detailed medical images that aids in diagnosis and care

• Precision in Treatment: They are also vital in radiation therapy, where they meticulously plan and deliver doses to treat diseases like cancer, requiring immense precision and care.
