TOPIC: THE PRAYER OF SUPPLICATION
⚓Scripture: Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Beloved, welcome to another Moment of Daily Encounter! We give thanks to God for making it possible for us to see the end of January! Our theme for the month of January was "Prayer the Priesthood of the Believers"! Under this theme, we have been able examined fasting, the importance of fasting and prayers. We then round up with understanding different kinds of prayers. The reason for studying the various kinds of prayers is to understand that different kinds of prayers has its rules of engagement. It is not in all cases you speak with the tone of command because you cannot command your father. Today, as we close out the subject of understanding various kinds of prayers, we shall be looking at the prayer of supplication.

*What are the various kinds of prayers studied so far?*
I. The prayer of Agreement
II.Thanksgiving prayers
III. Prophetic Prayers.
IV. The prayer of Faith
V. Warfare Prayers:
VI. Prayer of enquiry
VII.The Prayer of Intercessions
VII.Travailing prayers
VIII. Groanings

IX The prayer of supplication: The word supplication simply means to request or petition. So the prayer of supplication therefore is prayer of request or petition made to God.

The prayer of supplication is two dimensional:
A. Personal supplication: it is personal supplication when you table your heart desires to God in prayer. Jesus taught us like this:
*Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.*

Beloved, your aspirations, ambition, destiny pursuit can be hand over to God in prayer. Your specific expectations also can be presented in the place of prayer of personal supplication. This is where we address the matter of bread because Jesus taught us to pray thus:
*Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.*

We must learn to ask God for our daily bread. Our daily bread speak of our daily needs- this includes, shelter, food and security. We can as well pour out our fears and worries. That's why we have been warned not to worry:
*Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.*

So, it is possible you're worried and concerned about the year 2026, God said don't be worried, don't be anxious, rather make your supplication known unto Him;.

B. Supplication for others: This is making request for others. It is also called prayer of petition where you make petition to God for specific issues. For example a mother making supplication for her precious daughter or a friend making supplication for his friends etc.

Besides, making supplication for all men is what we must do as a sign of matured believers. For the Bible said:
*1 Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.*

Jesus taught us to pray kingdom advancement prayers as we make our supplication known to God in His model of prayer. The Bible said:
*Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.*

Observe the clause "thy kingdom come. Tby will be done in earth"- meaning the reign of God in the heart of men. This is the focus of the church that we often call kingdom advancement prayers. So, we make supplication to God on issues that can increase or advance His kingdom on earth. Infact, when we focus our energy on praying for issues that will advance God's kingdom on earth, we are bound to receive hundreds fold returns because we are signing a partnership form with God.
*Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.*

In conclusion, understanding various kinds of prayers will help us to pray aright, know the rules that govern the prayer and live an effective Christian life.

*Remember this:*
Heaven is real and hell is real! The decision of where to spend eternity begins now, give your heart to Jesus today.

~Father thank you for your word to me today.
~ Father, help me to make my supplication rather than getting worried as i focus more on the kingdom regularly than my personal needs in the name of Jesus Christ.

*Prophetic Declaration:*
~ I prophesy in this season of open doors, your prayer altar will remain on fire for the kingdom in the name of Jesus.
~ May you obtain promises as you enjoy the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit in prayer in the name of Jesus.

*Assignment:*
Refuse to worry rather make that issue of concern known to God in prayer.

TOPIC: PRAYING IN THE HOLY GHOST
⚓Scripture: Jude 1: 20. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! In continuation our subject on understanding various kinds of prayers; Today, we shall be looking at praying in the Holy Ghost.

Praying in the Holy Ghost is some how alien to some believers because many don't have any business with the Holy Spirit and such many are not filled with the Holy Spirit with initial evidence of speaking in tongues. Paying in the Holy Ghost begins with speaking in tongues. Although some folks don't believe in speaking in tongues. Some have argued that "speaking in tongues is past, it is only for those in Bible day's!" Well whatever happens in the bible day's is still happening today. Some said "it is not part of our church doctrine and because our church don't speak in tongues, they don't believe in it"! Well everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. The Bible is our yardstick for doctrine and since we are encouraged to pray in the Holy Ghost(Jude vs 20) then speaking in tongues is a must for every believer.

Beloved, if you are not yet filled with the Holy Spirit, I encouraged you do so today with initial evidence of speaking in tongues because your praying in the Holy Ghost begin with speaking in tongues. Some one will ask me can't i pray in the Holy Ghost without speaking in tongues? The answer is no! Because speaking in tongues is the doorway to the supernatural, there is no way you can enter into a house without a door. Therefore, praying tongues begins with speaking in tongues, making it a daily habit

*Why should every believer pray in the Holy Ghost?*
I. It is commanded (Jude vs20): God commands us to pray in the Holy Ghost because of the enormous benefits that follow.

*What are the benefits of praying in the Holy Ghost?*
I. It helps us to pray travailing prayers easily. If you are not Spirit filled and Spirit control it is difficult to make travailing prayers but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can birth things in the realm of the spirit as we travail in prayer.
II. It is a vehicle for intercession. There are those you wouldn't have loved to pray for naturally, but praying in the Holy Ghost can lead you to interceed for them.
III. It helps us to build up our faith (Jude vs 20): One technique of building our faith is praying in the Holy Spirit!
This is possible because in speaking in tongues, you trust God for utterances. Hence, it is easy to trust God for any other areas of your life by so doing you build up your faith.

IV. It helps us to eliminate selfishness from our prayers(Rom.8:36): There is a tendency in man to be selfish and self-centred! All they want is me and my family, and it is being extended to prayer! So many times we love to pray for issues that bothered us the most without minding if it is the will of God or not. The unfortunate thing is that most of those issues we are praying for is not for advancement of the kingdom of God and as such are out of the will of God. The Bible said:
*James 4: 3. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.*

However, when we pray in tongues we are able to eliminate selfishness from our prayers because we can now pray according to the will of God.
V. Praying in the Holy Ghost provides avenue for groanings in the spirit:
*Romans 8: 26. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.*

Observed the clause "for we know not what we should pray for as we ought" ! It isn't we know not how to pray, rather what to pray. So the Holy Spirit helps our infirmities by supplying us with prayer languages/vocabulary of what to pray with groanings which cannot be uttered by so doing we pray according to the will of God and eliminate selfishness from our prayer.

VI. Praying in the Holy Ghost helps us to be conscious of the presence of God in us! So many believers don't know they carry the Holy Spirit inside them and as such they could haul out vulgar language, insult and abuse at slighted provocation, but with speaking in tongues on continuous basis we are able to yield our tongues to God. The Bible said:
*James 3: 2. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.*

So we can bridle our body by submitting it to God as we constantly yield ourselves to Him through praying in tongues.

Besides, being aware of the presence of God, keep us humble- that's what praying in tongues does. The Bible said:
*James 4: 10. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.*

One of the way to humble yourself is continously praying in tongues that helps you to be conscious of the presence of God.

TOPIC: THE PRAYER OF ENQUIRY
⚓Scripture: 1 Samuel 30:8 And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! In continuation of our discussion on various kinds of prayers! Today, our focus is prayer of enquiry.

*What do we mean by prayer of enquiry?*
I. It is prayer made soliciting for response! That is you are asking your heavenly father question while you wait patiently for response.
*Psalm 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.*

II. It is prayer requesting God to teach you! You see in life, it is only those that acknowledge they don't know are the people that learn new things! If you want to learn put the attitudes of a child. The Bible said:
*Job 34:32 That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.*

III. It is prayer made to show you are helpless, and that your dependence is on God. If you depends on what you learn in school or your experience alone, you will certainly fail! But if you depends on God and show to Him by asking Him questions, He will be glad to answer you.
*Psalm 25:9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.*

*Why do you need to pray this prayer of enquiry?*
A. God said so! So, in response to God's instruction you pray it, expecting an answer from Him:
*Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.*

B. We pray it because prayer of enquiry gives us divine direction and direction is stronger than power.(Gen.26:1-14. Deut.29:29) Instead of expending energy to pray for power, we will rather pray for direction because God follows who ever He direct! Divine direction is the secret of the great because if you can discover the will of God, you have discovered power! In the will of God lies the power of God.
C. We pray the prayer of enquiry when we don't know the mind of God/the will of God concerning the issue we have been praying for.

Note, we must understand the channels of recieving answers when we begin to pray the prayer of enquiries.
*What are the channels of recieving answers during prayer of enquiry?*
I.Through scriptural revelation of the word of God (1Thess.5:21): It is the most authentic way of hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit and recieving answers to our questions. The word of God is that which provides us with the boundaries of God's commitment to us. It is the basis of judging every other avenue of recieving guidance. As you study the scripture, meditate on it, you will begin to hear the voice of the Spirit behind the letters.

II. Through the Joy factor and Peace factor (Rom. 14: 17.) : When you become born again the kingdom of God is within you now (Lk.17:21). So whatever tampered with your joy and peace is a pointer that the Holy Spirit is leading you away from it. There are times you will not see any scriptural revelation, trance or dreams and you will not hear the voice of the Holy Spirit yet you loss your peace! That's a danger sign saying God is not approving what you are praying about.

III. Through the inner witness or the still small voice(Jn.16:13); In every child of God is this voice of the Holy Spirit present, and many have taught it is their imagination that is speaking because they don't know how to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has a voice and such, He speaks by bearing witness with our human spirit :
*Romans 8: 16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:*

IV. Through the voice of conscience: For every born again child of God, there is a tender conscience that is living conscience and God will use your conscience to give you direction in some occasions, so don't ignore the voice of your conscience. The Bible said:
*Romans 9: 1. I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,*

*What do we mean by conscience?*
The conscience is the built in power of our minds to pass moral judgment on ourselves approving or disapproving our actions, attitudes, thoughts and plans.

V. Through perception: We can perceive the voice of the Holy Spirit by listening to your heart (Acts 27:7-10): There are times when you receive impulses by listening to your heart! Your heart here speaks of your recreated human spirit. As you speak in tongues, your spirit is active enough to receive information from the Holy Spirit. That was the life of Apostle Paul as they were travelling to Rome:
*Acts 27: 10. And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.*

VI. Through the voice of your pastor (1Sam.3:4-11): There are times the Holy Spirit will be talking to you through the voice of your pastor. In some instances, He will use the face of your pastor to warn or instruct you. At other times, it could be through His teaching or preaching ministry. God often hides behind the voice of your pastor to speak to you.

TOPIC: THE PRAYER OF FAITH AND WARFARE PRAYER
⚓Scripture: James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Beloved, welcome to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Previously, we established that that there are various kinds of prayers with each different in approach of praying it. Hence the need for us to understand what to do at any point in time. Today, we shall consider the prayer of faith and warfare prayers.

*What are the various kinds of prayers to pray?*
I. The prayer of Agreement
II.Thanksgiving prayers and Prophetic Prayers.

III. The prayer of Faith:
Our anchor scripture reveals that there's something called prayers of faith(Jam.5:15).
*When do we need to pray the prayer of faith?*
We pray the prayer of faith:
A. When the will of God is known but yet not manifesting in your life.
B. When dealing with opposition such as mountain or obstacles.
C. When expressing authority as believers.

Below are the rules that govern the prayer of faith according to Mark (11:12-24).
A. It is usually prayed by issuing command (Mrk11:14): Jesus issue a command once and that is enough. So, praying this prayer will require you to understand your authority as a believer and issuing a command on the strength of your authority.
B. You talk to things and not God. You don't report things to God, you speak to the issue or mountain. You are not begging the situations, rather you are commanding the situation, acting as God's representatives on earth. This is why you must understand when to issue command in prayer! A situations like casting out devils, ill-health condition, demonic situations or conditions that look like mountain comes under prayer of faith.
C.Make specific demand when praying.
(Mrk.11:23)..say to this mountain...! You must be specific when praying this prayer. E g, you can pray like this: This migraine get out of my life in the name of Jesus.
D. You must not doubt when praying this prayer.(Mrk.11:24)

Please note that when praying the prayer of faith, you don't do repetition(Matt.6:7). Declare, believe and it is done.

IV. Warfare Prayers:
Warfare prayers are prayers prayed for the purpose of waging war against an unseen, spiritual enemy who is bent on making us unhappy by thwarting our dreams and desires
This prayer is necessary for us to stand our ground when exercising our authority as we carry out our legislative function. Remember at the beginning of the month we established that every believer in Christ is a member of heavenly legislative assembly. We must understand that we legislate in the place of prayer. The Bible said:
*2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)*

Observe the clause pulling down strong holds! Strong holds are belief systems that are fortified by demons. This demons makes people to act based on their beliefs systems even when hearning the word of God they yet acting contrary to what they are hearing. Infact some of them may be quoting scripture while living contrary to the word they are quoting or preached because there is a beliefs system that dominate the word of God in their minds. So it takes warfare dimensions to pull down such faulty beliefs systems.

Please note that warfare prayers is not all about intense prayer but focuses more on strongholds, fear, doubt, sin, and negative patterns in the mind, emotions, and body. Some of us thought warfare is all about fighting the devil. That is completely out of it. Rather it is enforcing the victory of Christ, exercising the authority of Christ especially over our lives. You see many of us are yet to be delivered from our flesh, and that's why all our decisions are sensual or fleshly control ! That is why we need to approach those fleshly driven ambitions, appetite that sponsor sins into our lives with warfare dimensions. For the Bible said;
*Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.*

Beloved, don't think that sinful habits that has refused to give way in your life is ordinary, that struggle in you life that makes you go back to your vomit is not ordinary, put on warfare approach to enforce the liberty Christ has made us free. Pray warfare prayers today

MOMENT OF DAILY ENCOUNTER ( MODE)

TOPIC :THE PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AND PROPHETIC PRAYER
⚓Scripture: Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Beloved, welcome to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Yesterday, we started exploring various kinds of prayers with intentions for us to understand what to do at any point in time. We looked at prayer of agreement yesterday. Today, we shall consider the prayer of thanksgiving and prophetic prayers.

*PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING:*
It is prayers made with a heart of gratitude in anticipation of our desire testimony. Here, you are thanking God for your desire expectation. For example, you're trusting God for marital open door; you pray thus; Father, thank you for establishing my marital testimony this year in the name of Jesus. Or for any kind of open doors, you simply say, Father, thank you for opening my door in ministry, in business and career etc in Jesus's name. Let's learn to pray more with thanksgiving than continuous pouring of prayer requests to God all the time. For the Bible said:
*Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.*

Observe the clause "with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God"- this implies that for every requests let it be accompany with a thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is like a postage stamp that is placed on a letter before sending it to the address described on it. Without a stamp on your letter, if you attempt to send it via the post office, it will go no where rather it returns back to the sender address rather than sending it to the address originally intended. So many prayers have not been receiving heavens' attention because of negligence in the areas of thanksgiving.

Besides, thanksgiving must be what commence our prayers and what ends our prayers. Thanksgiving is the first thing that begins our day and what ends our day. That's why the Bible said:
*Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;*

*PROPHETIC PRAYERS*
This is the type of prayers made by re-echoing the Holy Scriptures, the written word of God. We understand the Bible is the book of prophecy:
*2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.*

We have also established that the Bible also contains promises. For the Bible said;
*2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.*

Therfore, praying according to the precious promises of God and prophecies as revealed in the scriptures is called Prophetic Prayers.
Examples of prophetic prayers:
A. Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

It is written this is the day, the Lord has made and because the Lord made today, I declare nothing tamper with my joy today, all that will happen today will bring me joy. Because Satan did not make today, my day is declare blessed, I walk in joy, I walk in gladness in the name of Jesus. I reject sorrow for my day today in the name of Jesus.

B. Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Father in the name of Jesus, I declare my path is shining, bright and brighter in the name of Jesus, my today is better than my yesterday and my tomorrow will be better in the name of Jesus, no going down, upward and forward only in the name of Jesus.

C.Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Father in the name of Jesus because I am of Christ, I am the seed of Abraham, the blessings of Abraham is my portion, I am a blessing not a curse, through my life shall the nations be blessed, every where I go, I carry the blessing on my head and whatever I touch must be blessed because I carry the blessing of Abraham in the name of Jesus.

The above examples are few of the several ways we can declare prophetic prayers in the light of the scriptures. This is the kind of prayer that is refers to confessional prayers . Every confessional prayers made that is not in the light of the scripture does not carry weight. The reall confessional prayers is declaration in the light of the scriptures. It is so powerful because the angels are waiting to execute instruction based on your declaration(Heb.1:14). However our prayers must not be limited to prophetic prayers alone because there are times, we need legislate and make decree in our capacity as members of kingdom legislative assembly. Hence, thorough understanding of various kinds of prayers is necessary.

TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING VARIOUS KINDS OF PRAYERS
⚓Scripture: Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! As we begin to round up the month of "Prayer our Priesthood Ministry "! It is necessary to highlight different kinds of prayers because the Bible said, "men that men ought always to pray, and not to fain(Lk.18:1)"! So, if we are fainting when we should be praying, then something is wrong with our understanding of prayer! Understand that when it has to do with prayer, there are prayers where we issue decree based on the authority of the scriptures(Job 22:28). In this case we are addressing issues, situations or conditions. Also, there are prayers we don't issue decree rather we are appealing to God act according to His words(Isa.41:21). The challenges many times is that we issue command when we are supposed to appeal, and we appeal when we are supposed to command and it all leads to frustration because we are not getting the desire outcome. For example, you don't command God, but many pray as if they are commanding God that's why the place of understanding matters. Today, we seek to understand one of the prayer called the prayer of agreement.

*THE PRAYER OF AGREEMENT*
It is a prayer of authority made base on legal provisions of the Holy scripture.
As the name implies, the prayer of agreement is a prayer that is prayed based on agreement with a minimum of two persons, and the maximum number is as many as possible. This is where all corporate prayers we pray in our church services, fellowship centres, families, etc fall into. This is why God wants us to be united in the spirit because if we are not united as a group our prayers will not be answered if we attempt to pray the prayer of agreement. There is more potency in prayer of agreement than when an individual is praying about the same issues because you have the promise of God assuring you that, He will grant you, your heart desires. But many times, when the devil wants to render our prayers ineffective, he will sponsor offences that cause disagreement here and there just to ensure the believers are not together. Understand today that the prayer of agreement is so powerful that we must shun our individual differences and come to agree together when we meet as a church or fellowship group.
This is the prayer that Jesus taught us in Matthew.
*Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.*

Observe from the above scriptures the rules for praying agreement prayer is:
A. Minimum of two persons. That's why husbands and wives can come together and pray the prayer of agreement. Infact it is highly recommended for couples to pray the prayer of agreement on regular basis.
B. There must be agreement between the two people or groups praying. That is why in groups prayer, when one person leads the prayers others chorus it and round it up with amen. Amen - means let it be so! Amen means so shall it be. And to show we are in agreement with whoever is leading the prayer, we say amen to it at the end of the prayer. As for couples, we must ensure there's no misunderstanding before praying the prayer of agreement because misunderstanding, offence means there's no agreement, and praying in such atmosphere is a waste of time and energy.
C. It must be prayed on earth, not in space or heaven.
D. The request must be clearly understood. Well-defined on any matter and also understand God's stand on the matter we are praying about. We must be specific in what we are demanding God to do.

Beloved, when you see us joining hands to pray, it is to show we are in agreement, making whatever we desire known unto God. It is a prayer that we are sure of answers when we truly prayed with the heart of agreement.
