HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM IBEJU LEKKI GENERAL HOSPITAL!
The New Year has brought triple joy to Ibeju-Lekki as three adorable babies ushered in 2026 with hope and gladness.
At the tick of midnight, Baby Oluwadare Morenikeji (boy) was born weighing 2.9kg, making him Lagos State’s symbolic First Baby of the Year.
Just five minutes later, Baby Olatunji Regina (girl) arrived weighing 3kg, followed by Baby Olusesi Abosede (girl) at 5:50am, weighing 2.9kg.
These precious births represent hope, fresh beginnings, and a brighter future for our community.
The occasion was graciously honoured by the presence of the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, alongside other distinguished guests from Ibeju-Lekki and its environs. Stakeholders across the health sector were also present. Their presence reaffirmed the State Government’s strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of mothers, newborns, and children across Lagos State.
The celebration recognised not only the arrival of the First Baby of 2026, but also the courage and strength of motherhood, the dedication and sacrifice of our healthcare workers, and the invaluable support of families and the community.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of gift items by the First Lady to the mothers and their babies. These essentials symbolised the love, care, and shared responsibility of the State in nurturing our children—the leaders of tomorrow.
This annual tradition once again reaffirmed the State’s dedication to improving healthcare services, promoting safe motherhood, and ensuring every child gets the best possible start in life. It also serves as a reminder that every new life is precious and deserves protection, dignity, and opportunity.
As we begin this New Year, we lift heartfelt prayers for our staff and management. May 2026 bring renewed strength, divine protection, wisdom, good health, and uncommon favour to every member of staff. May our hands be strengthened for service, our efforts rewarded, and our labour crowned with success.
The milestone was celebrated with gratitude and hope as prayers were offered for the babies, their families, and the entire hospital community.
Congratulations to the proud parents and families.
We sincerely thank our leaders—religious, academic, political, traditional, community leaders, and all stakeholders—for their magnanimous support.
Here’s wishing our beautiful, wonderful, and glorious children a happy, healthy, and fulfilled life.
