Causes Of Fluid In Uterus
The cause of fluid accumulation in the uterine cavity is age-related.

In premenopausal women, fluid accumulation in the uterus is often associated with pregnancy, if not its complications.
As a woman ages, her cervix is more prone to cervical stenosis.
Menopause

Women found to have intra-uterine fluid accumulation are already experiencing menopause.
Previous Endometrial Ablations

A history of endometrial ablations can cause the cervical opening to become stenosed.
Fibroids or Tumors

The presence of fibroid or benign tumors in the uterine wall has also been found to cause the constriction of the cervical opening.
Foreign body like intra uterine devices, meant to control pregnancy, may get infected and result in accumulation of fluid in the uterus.

Menopause is the time that marks the end of your menstrual cycles. It's diagnosed after you've gone 12 months without a menstrual period. Menopause can happen in your 40s or 50s.

Menopause is a natural biological process. But the physical symptoms, such as hot flashes, and emotional symptoms of menopause may disrupt your sleep, lower your energy or affect emotional health. There are many effective treatments available, from lifestyle adjustments to hormone therapy.

Symptoms

Irregular periods

Vaginal dryness

Hot flashes

Chills

Night sweats

Sleep problems

Mood changes

Weight gain and slowed metabolism

Thinning hair and dry skin

Loss of breast fullness

Keep up with regular visits with your doctor for preventive health care and any medical concerns. Continue getting these appointments during and after menopause.

Preventive health care as you age may include recommended health screening tests, such as colonoscopy, mammography and triglyceride screening. Your doctor might recommend other tests and exams, too, including thyroid testing if suggested by your history, and breast and pelvic exams.

Always seek medical advice if you have bleeding from your va**na after menopause.

We all know how important exercise and diet are when it comes to living a healthy life. However, many of us forget the role of regular check-ups in staying healthy. For women, that means a well-woman exam.

A general well-woman exam gives women an opportunity to discuss their reproductive health with their gynecologist or primary care physician. The exam is recommended once a year for most women.

It usually includes a breast and pelvic exam, as well as possibly a Pap smear (also known as Pap test) depending on age. It’s also an opportunity for a woman and her doctor to assess individual needs and answer any questions about s*xuality, stress, parenting, family planning and hormones.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that girls should have their first gynecological appointment between the ages of 13 to 15. For women between the age of 21 and 29 years old, the ACOG recommendation is for a yearly pelvic exam and a general women’s wellness exam, which should include a Pap smear every three years.

If you’re between the ages of 30 and 64, you should have a pelvic exam every year and a Pap smear every three to five years, depending on what your health care provider recommends. If you’ve had irregular Pap tests in the past, you may still need them annually or more frequently. The best way to prevent cervical cancer is to follow ACOG guidelines for Pap smears and human papillomavirus (HPV) testing, which are both usually done at the same time.

The clinical breast exam is another regular component of the yearly well-woman exam. In conjunction with regular self-exams and mammograms, it helps your doctor screen for breast cancer. Early detection is the best way to prevent this type of cancer.

OB/GYN services like yearly well-woman exams are provided at M.I.S.S. Schedule an appointment today.

IS IT DANGEROUS TO LEAVE UTERINE FIBROIDS UNTREATED?

Uterine fibroids are an extremely common condition in women. These benign growths usually cause no symptoms, but can sometimes cause painful symptoms or complications that require treatment. Although uterine fibroids are not life-threatening, treatment may be important for a woman’s quality of life and fertility.

Understanding Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are benign growths inside the uterus that affect a large proportion of women, especially those who are in their 30s or older but have not yet gone through menopause. In many cases, women with uterine fibroids never experience symptoms, and it is not necessary to treat fibroids in such cases. However, in other cases, fibroids can cause distressing symptoms such as pain during menstrual periods, pain during s*x, and heavy menstrual bleeding.

Possible Uterine Fibroid Complications
Uterine fibroids can be uncomfortable, but in most cases there are no serious complications. Nevertheless, in some cases a significant danger due to uterine fibroids can be present. The danger of uterine fibroids can include:

1. Anemia due to excessive blood loss
2. Prevention of implantation of an embryo
3. Loss of pregnancy
4. Blocked fallopian tubes due to the location of a fibroid at the entrance to the fallopian tubes

If you have symptoms of uterine fibroids, meeting with a skilled physician is the first step to getting treatment. To schedule a consultation with an American Trained and Certified OBGYN, Visit 33F, Oba Akinjobi Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. Or Call 08177788224, 08177788223.

Uterine fibroids are growths in your uterus. Because they’re typically not cancerous, you can decide whether or not you want to have them removed.

You may not need surgery if your fibroids don’t bother you. However, you might consider surgery if your fibroids cause:

heavy menstrual bleeding
bleeding between periods
pain or pressure in your lower belly
frequent urination
trouble emptying your bladder
Surgery might also be an option if you want to get pregnant in the future. Sometimes fibroids can increase your risk of having a miscarriage or complications during your pregnancy.

If you decide to have fibroid surgery, you have three options:

endometrial ablation
myomectomy
hysterectomy

Surgery can relieve your fibroid symptoms, but it does come with risks. Your doctor will talk you through your options. Together, you can decide whether to have a procedure, and if so, which one to have.

Types of fibroid surgery
There are three types of fibroid procedures. Which one you have depends on:

the size of your fibroids
the number of fibroids you have
where in your uterus they’re located
whether you want to have children

Benefits Of Laparoscopic Surgeries To Traditional Surgeries.

Working this way has several advantages compared with traditional surgery. Because it involves less cutting:

You have smaller scars.
You get out of the hospital quicker.
You'll feel less pain while the scars heal, and they heal quicker.
You get back to your normal activities sooner.
You may have less internal scarring.

Here’s an example. With traditional methods, you might spend a week or more in the hospital for intestinal surgery, and your total recovery might take 4 to 8 weeks. If you have laparoscopic surgery, you might stay only 2 nights in the hospital and recover in 2 or 3 weeks. And a shorter hospital stay generally costs less.
