The Forgotten Pillar of Mental Health: Sleep

We talk about therapy.
We talk about support systems.
We talk about healing.

But do we talk enough about sleep?

Poor sleep doesn’t just make us tired. It affects memory, mood, decision-making, and even how we process trauma. Many people struggling with anxiety, depression, or addiction also struggle with sleep and it creates a cycle that’s hard to break.

Every night of deep, restorative rest is like giving your brain and heart a chance to heal. Small changes like creating a calm bedtime routine, reducing screen time, or practicing relaxation before bed can make a big difference.

Remember: Rest is not laziness. Rest is recovery. Rest is medicine.

The issue is not always with the marriage or relationship—it’s with the mindset. You are trying too hard to make your spouse or partner into someone they fundamentally cannot be. In other words, you are trying to produce a different fruit from a different seed. It will never work. This is often where frustration begins.

Stop trying to change your partner—this is where the frustration lies, and it won’t work. Instead, you must either work on your mindset to adjust to your partner or accept them as they are and find peace. The truth is, for your relationship or marriage to experience lasting peace, you both need to reach a level of acceptance. This is a stage in marriage, but it takes time.
