Before I started taking my my business and life seriously online 😩😀

I followed a vendor here who has about 7000 followers or so. It looks somehow to me how a business will be doing so well yet has little following.

What does the term “Live and Active cultures” on yogurt labels mean?

I'm sure you would have come across this  term if you're an ardent yogurt fan.

Now, what does it really mean and how do you know the yogurt you're consuming really has it.

“Live and active cultures" in yogurt means that the yogurt contains living microorganisms (friendly bacteria, don't be scared 😀 we have friendly bacteria as much as we have bad bacteria) that were used to ferment the milk and are still alive in the final product when you eat it.

Examples of Cultures with these bacteria are: Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, or Bifidobacterium.

Live: the bacteria are still alive at the time of consumption, not killed by heat or processing during production.

Active: the bacteria are functioning, they can ferment sugars and contribute to gut health. (This is why yogurt gets soured when it's out of fridge, because the bacteria are active and will continue working once it's in a warm environment)
