Let’s talk about s*x, or better still, let’s talk about s*x education.
You see, April 13 to April 18 is considered S*xual Health Awareness Week.
PS: Many people, especially in our society, would love to believe that topics like this do not concern us; a huge lie.
S*x (even extramarital s*xual activities) happen around us, regardless of how conservative and religious our society might be.
And for the sake of good health, It’s best we talk about it rather than pretend it does not exist.
So, here are a couple of points to keep in mind:
1. Abstinence -not having s*x- is the only 100% way to protect yourself entirely from STIs, S*xually Transmitted Infections.
2. Being in a loyal, faithful relationship (both partners are faithful o) reduces your risk of STIs as well.
3. If you are s*xually active, it is VERY IMPORTANT TO USE A CONDOM.
4. Most s*xually transmitted infections can occur without causing any symptoms at all. These are known as silent infections, unfortunately….
5. Unfortunately, silent infections can cause long-term damage in both men and women.
Damages like infertility, ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside of the womb), and even organ damage like the liver, which is why……
6. Everyone who is s*xually active should get tested regularly.
a. If you are in a faithful, monogamous relationship, a yearly STI check is in order.
b. If you have multiple partners or engage in risky s*xual behaviors like not using condoms, then testing every 3 to 6 months is advised, and….
If you are in Kaduna and you want a place where you can get tested for STIs without:
a. Shame
b. Stigma
c. Judgement
d. And with 100% confidentiality
