KNSPHCMB, GEO-ST4R CONSORTIUM STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP TO SCALE DIGITIZED MICROPLANING FOR RMNCNH AND REACH ZERO-DOSE LGAs

The GEO-ST4R Consortium, led by Pathfinder International in collaboration with Natview Foundarion for Innovation and Technology(NFTI) and DSN - Data Science Nigeria, today paid an advocacy visit to the Director General of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, Professor Salisu Ahmed Ibrahim , at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). The delegation was led by Dr. Olufemi Ibitoye, Technical Advisor at Pathfinder International, and focused on strengthening data-driven planning and service delivery across the state’s primary health care system.

The engagement sought the Director General’s support to deepen the use of the digitized microplan and the GEO-ST4R products platform, particularly in advancing evidence-based decision-making. Key discussions also covered the compilation of the 2026 microplan and the dissemination of GEO-ST4R products insights and tools to other development partners operating within the health sector in Kano State.

Additionally, the Consortium briefed the DG on an upcoming capacity-building initiative, including specialized training for the Board’s IT team, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers, and Routine Immunization Officers (RIOs) across the 15 zero-dose Local Government Areas. The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of KSPHCMB and its partners to leveraging geospatial intelligence and data innovation to accelerate immunization coverage and improve primary health care outcomes in Kano State.

KANO STATE GOVERNMENT STRENGTHENS MATERNAL HEALTH WITH COMMISSIONING OF UPGRADED GWAGWARWA MATERNITY CLINIC

The Kano State Government has commissioned and taken over a rehabilitated, renovated, furnished, and fully equipped maternity clinic at Gwagwarwa Primary Health Care Facility, Nassarawa Local Government Area. The facility was upgraded through the support of the FRAMAZAZ Foundation as part of efforts to strengthen maternal and child health services across the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, who represented the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving primary health care delivery and reducing maternal and neonatal mortality. He appreciated the support of development partners and foundations that complement government efforts in the health sector.

The intervention was supported by the FRAMAZAZ Foundation, founded by Vice Admiral A.Z. Gambo (rtd), in line with its humanitarian objectives. In recognition of the contribution, the maternity clinic was named Hajia Nana Aisha Gambo Maternity Clinic, after the wife of the founder.

The commissioning of the facility is expected to enhance access to quality maternal health services for women in Gwagwarwa and neighboring communities, while further strengthening collaboration between the Kano State Government and development partners toward achieving universal health coverage.
