NOVALGIN; NOT GOOD FOR YOU
Novalgin also called analgin, containing the active ingredient metamizole sodium is considered an analgesic ( pain killer) and anti-pyretic ( fever reducer) type of medication.
Some patients will use it to treat conditions such as headaches, toothaches, myositis ( inflammation of muscles that you use to move your body) e.t.c
*Am surprised when some patients walk into the pharmacy and still request for novalgin after its ban in the country.
Novalgin has been banned in the U. S, Australia, European Union, and 30 other countries for like 30 years ago.
It has some serious side effects that cannot be overlooked.
These include :
*Agranulocytosis:
Don't be afraid of the jargon, I will break it down. Agranulocytosis is an acute condition involving a severe leukopenia ( lowered white blood cell count). It is a severe lack of one major class of infection-fighting white blood cells called Neutrophils.
Thus, as long as you are taking the drugs, you will be susceptible to any infection and I mean any infection.
*Anaphylaxis:
Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that needs to be treated right away. If you have an anaphylactic reaction, you need an epinephrine ( adrenaline) shot as soon as possible.
And note it could be fatal.
Along with a whole lot of other side effects such as cutaneous reactions such as urticaria ( itching), rashes etc, I urge everyone to just leave novalgin and go for other safer and more effective treatment options.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
NOVALGIN HAS BEEN BANNED; LEAVE IT THAT WAY
