Loving yourself is not pride—it’s agreeing with God about who you are.
“God Didn’t Make a Mistake With Me”
Esther loved God… but she struggled to love herself.
Every day, she prayed, fasted, and served in church. People saw her as a strong believer. They admired her dedication.
But inside, Esther felt broken.
She would look in the mirror and whisper,
“Why am I not like others?”
“Why can’t I be better?”
“Why do I feel so unworthy?”
She loved everyone the way the Bible taught—kind, patient, forgiving.
But when it came to herself, she was harsh, critical, and unforgiving.
One Sunday, during service, the pastor preached about how humans are created in God’s image.
He said,
“If God calls His creation good… why do you keep calling yourself worthless?”
That question hit Esther deeply.
It felt like God was speaking directly to her heart.
That night, she opened her Bible and read again how God created man and said it was very good.
Tears filled her eyes.
For the first time, she realized something powerful:
By constantly hating herself, she was indirectly questioning God’s work.
She whispered through tears,
“Lord, forgive me for not seeing myself the way You see me.”
From that day, Esther started a new journey.
Not a journey of perfection… but of acceptance.
Whenever negative thoughts came, she reminded herself:
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
“I am loved by God.”
“I am enough because He says I am.”
It wasn’t easy. Some days were still hard.
But this time, she didn’t fight alone.
She leaned on God’s Word.
Slowly, her heart changed.
She began to smile at her reflection
She stopped comparing herself to others.
She found peace in knowing that God created her with purpose.
One day, a younger girl in church came to her and said,
“I want to be confident like you.”
Esther smiled and replied,
“It didn’t start with confidence… it started with believing God doesn’t make mistakes.”
