The socio-economic shocks resulting from the global spread of COVID-19 comes at a time of acute inequality and ecological fragility. The pandemic is hitting vulnerable and marginalized groups particularly hard, with fewer resources to protect themselves from health risks, to access healthcare, or to pay for essential goods. The COVID-19 pandemic may unwind much of the progress made towards the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals. Governments are facing bankruptcy at an unprecedented scale, resulting in job losses for millions. In this context, confidence in the durability of the global economy, and by extension the norms and institutions that support it, are being tested like never before. The business world is constantly grappling with the unprecedented change and impact caused by the COVID-19. In order to retain our productivity as a body, quality of work and mission continuity the international trustees of WMO has pointed two immediate areas to be focused upon by all WMO members worldwide which are workforce and recruitment. Recruitment during COVID-19 times has been very challenging for WMO and how we can overcome COVID-19 pandemic has caught a lot of us unprepared and has hit businesses in different ways, recruitment and broader talent acquisition strategies being no exception to this. WMO workforce planning and recruitment is likely to be largely affected by how leaders see this organization reshaping in coming years, new ways of working, changing job roles and recruiting new missionaries. Mentioned below are the two key interventions projects that WMO has put together so that we can continue to focus and stay relevant and ensure we are connected with our vision and mission.
