THE FRIEND’S SECRET
My friend’s wife called me crying, saying,
“He has been coming home late and acting strange. He barely talks to me anymore. Please, I’m scared… do you know what’s going on?”
I froze.
Because I knew something.
Something my friend trusted me with…
Something that could either save a family or destroy a friendship.
Days earlier, my friend had confided in me.
Not about another woman.
Not about money problems.
But a secret so heavy it was slowly changing him.
He was sick.
And he was hiding it.
He didn’t want his wife to worry.
He didn’t want pity.
So he buried himself in late nights, hospital visits, and silent prayers.
Now his wife was crying on the phone,
And I was standing between loyalty and truth.
Do I tell her and betray my friend?
Or keep quiet and let her heart break in confusion?
