Our Doctors’ Forum on colorectal cancer was defined by the depth, clarity, and practical value of every conversation shared.

Led by Dr. Akinfemi Akingboye, the keynote session set a strong and engaging tone. He simplified complex advancements in colorectal care, clearly connecting screening, diagnosis, and surgical intervention into a seamless, actionable pathway. His approach made it easy for everyone in the room to follow, contribute, and take something meaningful away.

What stood out throughout the forum was how much colorectal cancer management has evolved in recent years. The shift toward prevention, early detection, and more precise, patient-focused treatment continues to shape better outcomes.

Dr. Funmi James highlighted the critical role of imaging—not just in diagnosis, but in guiding decision-making across the entire care journey. Adding further depth, Dr. Udechukwu Osita and Dr Jude Friday delivered a compelling case presentation, bringing real-world surgical perspectives into focus.

A consistent theme emerged: quality outcomes are intentional. They are driven by early action, informed decisions, and strong collaboration across specialties—with the patient always at the centre. When these elements align, the impact on care is undeniable.

We appreciate all our partners, colleagues, and doctors who joined us, as well as our patients and community members who contributed to such a valuable and engaging session.

The Iwosan Lagoon Hospitals Doctors Forum on Colorectal Cancers brought together a powerful mix of clinical expertise, shared experiences, and truly incredible conversations.

Led by Dr. Akinfemi Akingboye, Consultant Robotic and Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon, the session explored critical aspects of colorectal cancer care, from early diagnosis to evolving surgical techniques and improved patient outcomes. The depth of knowledge shared set the tone for meaningful engagement throughout the forum.

The conversation was further enriched by contributions from Dr. James, Consultant Radiologist, and Dr. Osita, General Surgeon, whose insights added valuable perspectives on imaging, diagnosis, and multidisciplinary care.

Beyond the clinical discussions, what truly stood out was the diversity of voices in the room. The forum created space for broader perspectives, including the patient experience, reinforcing the importance of designing healthcare systems, treatment pathways, and decisions with the people they are meant to serve at the center.

There was a strong sense of alignment around one key idea: healthcare works best when it is collaborative and patient-centered , when professionals and patients engage, listen, and learn from one another.

At Iwosan Lagoon Hospitals, this remains a core commitment, not only to deliver excellent care, but to continuously earn the trust placed in us by fostering inclusive conversations that shape better outcomes.

Thank you to every doctor, professional, and advocate who contributed to making this forum impactful.
