I also commented “OCD” on this post and have on other posts to get access to the medical advice he’s giving to people who have a serious mental health disorder, but alas, I never get the message or the link 🙃. Either way, expertise matters, evidence based treatment for OCD matters, ethical standards matter. What doesn’t matter is a chiropractor’s thoughts on a debilitating mental health condition.

Is the definition of to lie about what we have known in “conventional” medicine for like 25 years now? Weird to use your title as Dr. and then not report on what you should know as a literal expert in your field, but I digress. TLDR; don’t listen to the holistic psychologist for mental health information. maybe you should like address this behavior or something?

This also includes rogue MDs and PhDs who chose the grifter route when evidence-based practice wasn’t profitable enough—while continuing to weaponize their titles as authority 🤢. I hope you’re taking notice of the docs in the field overstepping their boundaries and creating ethical dilemmas on this app everyday 😘

And honestly, labeling something as “evidence-based” is limited by the American Psychological Association’s criteria, but those standards at least help ensure treatments are safer and push clinicians to check their own biases. How we appraise research matters, like a f**k ton.
Also, the idea that PVT offers clinical
utility because it helps provide a narrative isn’t a sufficient enough reason to promote it in favor of other evidence based treatments for trauma related disorders. If you are going to use PVT in clinical practice, you need to inform your clients of its non evidence base and what that means compared to an evidence based intervention that’s also available as a treatment option.
Also, also: “Clinicians also choose to use a variety of frameworks irrespective of scientific rigor. Some use the chakra system. Others use cognitive behavioral therapy.” This is why we need clinicians to understand research appraisal and why a scientist practitioner model is so important. In fact, it’s imperative.

The Original Hippocratic Oath that doctors are supposed to subscribe to: The classical oath includes the promise to “abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous.”
The most recent popular brand of professional wellness influencers includes rogue MD’s who have personal experience with an ailment that conventional medicine failed to provide relief for. This culminates to personal experimentation and self proclaimed expertise when they figured out how to treat themselves. Sound familiar? Then they write a book (don’t publish any RCT’s) and continue to spread misinformation about the very field they both say they are an expert in all while using their conventional medicine title to support it. Yikes. If you wanna know more about evidence based practice in clinical psychology and what interventions actually work (and not because I think they do), stay tuned for more on this topic.

As a journalist, “bruh” really communicates a clear feeling and judgement of Attia’s email exchanges with Epstein such that we understand the true nature of Lugapoop’s character and moral compass.
What’s that s**t he says to people he gets triggered by in his own comment section? Low IQ comment, broski. It’s one thing to profit off of the spread of misinformation about public health information on your own podcast, and it’s quite another to not publicly condemn such disgusting dialogue with a known p**o phile simply because you admired the guy. Like a true journalist, I think his own words speak for themselves.

The narrative you hear depends on where you get your information. This doesn’t mean that psychiatric medication doesn’t come without side effects or real risks you have to consider, but that is something carefully reviewed by your medical team in order to make an informed decision embedded in the larger context of your quality of life.
Psychiatric medication saves lives and I’m so glad it’s a tool that my clients have access to if and when they need it. **koff

Oxford definition of holistic: characterized by the belief that the parts of something are interconnected and can be explained only by reference to the whole.

MEDICINE
characterized by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of an illness.
Literally the definition of evidence based conventional mental health, but who’s counting 🙃. Friendly reminder that if someone on instagram (professional wellness influencer, rogue MD/Ph.D, chiropractor, etc.) is demonizing evidence based conventional mental health practices, they 1. are unqualified to speak regarding the standards in the field and 2. Do not understand the definition of holistic practice. Oh and 3. Are going to sell you an unregulated and unproven supplement or protocol that will heal your gut and brain in less than 30 days, but we’re the grifters 🙃 Got it.

“Key to the successful transition to a KD in any population is dietary education and support, and likely particularly important in this population was the provision of prepared meals and snacks, as depression, psychosis, and other serious psychiatric symptoms may otherwise have made the logistics of adopting and adhering to the KD (or any new diet) formidable.”
Anyone telling you there’s evidence that ketogenic diets help to reduce serious symptomology from persistent mental health disorders doesn’t know how to appraise evidence. Case reports conducted for 3 weeks don’t provide the evidence needed to make recommendations.
There’s 0 studies looking at long term effects of a ketogenic diet for mental health. Probably because the diet significantly increases cardiovascular risk for disease which is an independent risk factor for depression and other mental health disorders and also probably because THE DAMN DIET IS UNSUSTAINABLE AND FORMIDABLE BECAUSE LESS THAN HALF OF THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE STUDY SHE REFERENCED WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH THE DIET POST TREATMENT (🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃).
