Representatives from Nigeria's Coalition of Sickle Cell NGOs showed up strong at the public hearing on the Sickle Cell Disorder Research & Therapy Centres (Establishment) Bill 2025 in Abuja.

Our input is no doubt vital to ensuring this game-changing legislation truly meets the real needs of those living with SCD - better access to research, therapy, counseling, and nationwide centers that save lives, not just in theory.

In a country where 150,000 kids are born with SCD yearly, our lived experiences and expertise will shape a bill that empowers families, cuts mortality, and builds hope.

The Noah's Ark Foundation is proud to fight for equity and healing. Together, we're turning policy into progress!

It's easy to fall into the habit of saying, "I'm fine," even when you know you're not. We do this to protect loved ones, avoid judgment, or simply to get through the day.

But this week, we encourage a different kind of courage: The courage to be soft.

Being a Warrior means you carry a heavy load, and it's important to put it down sometimes.

Don't suffer in silence.
Use your voice.
Tell a loved one you're tired.
Tell your doctor exactly how you feel.
Ask for that hot water bottle, that pain reliever, or just a few quiet hours alone.

Your strength is demonstrated not by enduring alone, but by allowing yourself to be supported. Let's learn to practice radical self-honesty.

The ability to pay shouldn't determine a baby's right to live.

The cost of waiting is too high. Delaying a Sickle Cell diagnosis by just a few months can lead to irreversible complications and drastically reduce a child's chance of survival.

We must stop treating diagnosis as a luxury. Mandatory, free, or subsidized Neonatal Screening is not optional; it is a foundational public health necessity.

The cost of waiting is too high!
Delaying a Sickle Cell diagnosis by just a few months can lead to irreversible complications and drastically reduce a child's chance of survival.

We should stop treating diagnosis as luxury. Mandatory, free, or subsidized Neonatal Screening is not optional; it is a foundational PUBLIC HEALTH NECESSITY.

This week, let's dismantle the pressure to keep up with the world’s relentless pace. Your journey with Sickle Cell Disease demands a different kind of strength; the strength to rest when you need it, and the wisdom to know that rest is productive.

Many people race through life, but you are running a marathon that requires tactical pauses, deep breathers, and intentional hydration.

Never feel guilt for adjusting your schedule, canceling a plan, or choosing to protect your peace (and your joints!). Your body is fighting a battle others cannot see.

Your progress is not measured by speed, but by consistency, self-care, and courage to keep showing up, even after a crisis.

Take a deep breath.
Hydrate.
Move at the speed of grace and self-love today. You are strong. You are enough.
