SKINCARE FROM YOUR KITCHEN
Did you know that everyday foods from your kitchen offer beauty-boosting benefits without any harmful ingredients? Forget about the fortune you spend on chemical-laden cosmetics. Remember that Cleopatra bathed in milk, Japanese geishas washed their faces with rice water , and the Romans slathered themselves with olive oil ?
Today we’re helping you step up your skincare game with basic, nutrient-rich ingredients straight from your kitchen. These simple skincare recipes will nourish and pamper your skin. Bonus: They’re incredibly inexpensive! *winks*
Oatmeal
Oatmeal is an excellent natural scrub and is easily available in the kitchen. It helps in removing dead cells from the face, imparting a fresh look.
To prepare an oatmeal pack, mix ½ cup of oatmeal with ½ cup milk and make a paste.
Clean your face with normal water and then apply the pack evenly on your face.
Allow the pack to rest for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water while scrubbing your face with the pack in circular motions.
Sugar
Sugar works as a great exfoliator.
Mix it with some gram flour and rose water and use it as a scrub on your face to get rid of dead and dry skin.
Another way to use it is to mix honey and sugar together to use as a great (and yummy) lip exfoliator.
Turmeric
This yellowish spice not only works as a great anti septic but is also great for fading skin discolorations and post-acne scarring.
Mix it with just enough lime juice to make a medium-thickness paste, and dab onto discoloured skin only.
Leave on for about 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
The area treated may take on a temporary yellow tint that should fade with another washing or two.
Regular usage of turmeric not only helps with discoloration but also helps in getting an acne free healthy skin.
Eggs
Eggs are often used in cooking and baking, but can also be applied on the face to help ward off wrinkles and to potentially tighten sagging skin. By applying egg whites directly onto your skin, you can give yourself an effective facial without spending a lot of money.
To make your firming mask, separate two eggs into egg whites and yolk.
Whip the egg whites with a fork, and then spread the egg whites over your skin with your fingers.
Leave the egg whites on your skin for 30 minutes, or until they completely dry.
Wash the dried egg whites off your skin using warm water.
Honey
A honey face mask is another soothing mask for your skin. It especially calms redness and blemishes.
1. HONEY FACE MASK FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN
3 teaspoons raw honey
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix honey and cinnamon together, and apply to your face. Leave the mask on for 10-30 minutes. The antibacterial properties of both honey and cinnamon are especially beneficial for acne-prone skin.
2.HONEY FACE MASK FOR DRY SKIN
1 teaspoon mashed avocado
1 teaspoon plain whole milk yogurt
1 teaspoon raw honey
Mix ingredients in a small bowl until smooth. Spread the mixture over your face and let it sit for 20-30 minutes before washing it off.
3.HONEY FACE MASK FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
2 teaspoons raw honey
1 teaspoon aloe vera gel
Stir the aloe and honey together and apply over your face. Leave it on for about 10-20 minutes.
4. HONEY FACE MASK FOR SCARS AND DARK SPOTS
2 teaspoons raw honey
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Combine the lemon juice and honey, and apply the mixture to your face. Allow it to sit for 20-30 minutes. Lemon juice exfoliates your skin, brightens dark spots and fades scars.
