MPAC Scholarship Student Shines at Madina Institute, South Africa

MPAC scholarship student at the Madina Institute (MI), a premier destination for Islamic education in which Muslims from all backgrounds can engage in traditional Islamic teachings, has done us proud by emerging one of the three best students at the end of her studies in South Africa this month. Hind, and two others, were offered scholarship positions by MPAC to the 1-year Intensive Usul-ud-Din and Arabic programme at the Madina Institute in 2015 after an intensive and transparent selection process. Hind is from Taraba State (she had her first degree in Nigeria and Masters in the UK) and applied for the scholarship after she saw our advert. According to her, the Madina Institute experience has been a fantastic experience for her, one she will never forget.

During MPAC leadership team's visit to South Africa in July, the MI management informed us that Hind had become a shining star within the community and was on her way to emerging one of the best students. As a result of her very brilliant performance and conduct, Hind has now been offered a 4-year scholarship to do advance studies at the MI campus in Atlanta Georgia, USA.

Hind (middle in the picture) has made us all very proud and her example will inspire other scholarship students we will be sending to South Africa to show them what is possible when they study hard. We congratulate Hind for this brilliant performance. We hope she had an enjoyable graduation and wish her a bright future.

We pray that Allah (SWT) will protect all the students and grant them knowledge that will benefit them and others in this world and in the hereafter, amin.

The Call Of Abraham
On the occasion of this year's hajj pilgrimage, the Muslim Public Affairs Centre congratulates the pilgrims who traveled to Makkah and Madina this year to peform the ceremonies of the Hajj. Hajj consists of several rites, which are meant to symbolize the essential concepts of the Islamic faith, and to commemorate the trials and triumph of Prophet Abraham and his family. The Qur'an describes Prophet Abraham (AS) as follows:

"Surely Abraham was an example, obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the polytheists. He was grateful for Our bounties. We chose him and guided him unto a right path. We gave him good in this world, and in the next he will most surely be among the righteous." (Surah An-Nahl:120-121)

ABOUT THIS MONTH

Allah the Most High & Exalted says: “By the Dawn; By the ten nights” [Surah Al-Fajr:1-2]

This oath substantiates the greatness and sacredness of these ten nights in the eyes of Allah. This is an extraordinary oath; it is very reliable and significant and the wise men can understand that by this oath, Allah too attaches great importance and value to the ten nights of Dhul Hijjah.

It is clear then that these 10 days possess tremendous blessings and excellence. Therefore we should spend these 10 blessed days and nights in intensive worship and virtuous acts. Therefore we cannot possibly afford to miss out on such immense rewards otherwise we will definitely be in utter regret in the Hereafter!

EVENTS OF THE MONTH OF DHUL-HIJJAH
The Prophet (P.B.U.H.) took his second trip to Ash-Sham.
The second Pledge (Bai'ah) of Al-'Aqabah took place 13 years after the beginning of the Prophet's mission of Prophethood
The expedition of As-Sawiq took place in the year 2 AH.
Allah's Messenger (P.B.U.H.) attacked Banu Quraizah in the year 5 AH during this month
The birth of Ibrahim, the son of Allah's Messenger (P.B.U.H.) from Mariya Al-Qabtiyyah, in the year 8 AH.
The Hajj of the first Khalifah Abu Bakr (radiallahu anhu) with the people in the year 12 AH.
The battle of Dathin near Gaza at the outskirts of Palestine. This was the first battle between the Muslims and the Romans. It took place in the year 12 AH.
The Commander of the believers, 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (radiallahu anhu) was assisinated. He was stabbed by Abu Lu'lu'ah Al-Majusi on the 25th of Dhul-Hijjah, in the year 23 AH.
'Uthman bin 'Affan (radiallahu anhu) was chosen as the Khalifah of the Muslims.
The Commander of the believers, 'Uthman bin 'Affan (radiallahu anhu) was assasinated on Friday (Jumu'ah), the 18th of Dhul-Hijjah, in the year 35 AH.
'Ali bin Abu Talib (radiallahu anhu) was given the pledge (Bai'ah) as the Khalifah on the 25th of Dhul-Hijjah, in the year 35 AH.

TAKE BENEFIT OF THE BEST 10 DAYS

The Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) has said regarding these blessed days

“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” The people asked , “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out, giving himself and his wealth up for the cause (of Allah), and came back with nothing.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

“Whoever builds a mosque, desiring thereby Allah’s pleasure, Allah builds for him the like of it in paradise.”

[Sahih Bukhari]

What Roles the Mosque Will Serve in the Life of the 13 Villages:

1. A Prayer Hall

It will primarily serve as a place for prayer, to encourage the practice of the Islamic faith in the communities, and a centre of community life;
2. Creating a Space to Unify
Islam preaches unity of the spiritual and the worldly aspects of life therefore community gatherings in Mosques include both spiritual and social elements;
3. Creating a Space to Teach and Do Dawah
A space for madrasah: Islam emphasises the importance of education and so teaching and learning are the fundamentals of the masjid
