To the Caesarean Section Mama who still feels pain at her back,
Hey Mom,
Let’s talk. Not small talk. I mean real, honest, over-the-table kind of talk.
I know people have stopped asking. I know the baby is bigger now maybe crawling, maybe even walking. And everyone around you seems to have moved on, like the surgery is a distant memory.
But you haven’t.
Because your body still remembers.
You still feel that spot where the spinal injection went in where it all began. You still shift awkwardly in the chair, hoping the back pain doesn’t flare up again. And every time the pain comes, you remember everything you went through.
I want you to hear this, mama: that pain is real.
It’s not “in your head.” It’s not you being dramatic. You don’t have to brush it off or laugh through it or explain it to people who will never understand.
You laid your body on a cold table.
You took that needle in your spine, feeling the pressure, the fear, the stillness.
You went through major surgery to bring your baby here alive.
And now, you’re living in a body that hasn’t felt “normal” since.
Your body may feel unfamiliar, but it’s still yours.
It’s the body that brought life into this world.
And even now, with the aches and the scars and the fatigue, it’s still showing up for you.
I hope you give it grace.
I hope you rest when you need to.
I hope you know that you deserve care too, not just the baby.
You are loved
