Cholesterol no dey show for face o! 😅

You see that person that looks slim and ‘healthy’? They can still have high cholesterol. Even that uncle that says, ‘Na only garri I dey drink’ might be at risk.

Cholesterol is not all bad — your body needs it. But when it gets too high, it can block your blood vessels and cause heart problems, stroke, and even sudden death.

This is why you shouldn’t wait till you feel sick before you check your cholesterol level.
✔️ If you eat a lot of fried foods, red meat, or processed snacks
✔️ If you hardly exercise
✔️ Or if you have a family history of heart problems…

Please, do a cholesterol test. Prevention is always better than cure. ❤️

When was the last time you checked yours?

Let’s Talk About Hepatitis

Many people hear the word “hepatitis” but don’t really understand what it means.
Hepatitis simply means inflammation of the liver — and it can be caused by viruses (like hepatitis A, B, or C), alcohol, some drugs, or even other health conditions.

The scary part? You can have hepatitis and not feel sick at all until the liver is badly damaged.

Some warning signs to watch out for include:

Yellow eyes or skin

Dark urine

Constant tiredness

Stomach pain or swelling

Loss of appetite or unexplained weight loss

The good news is that hepatitis can be managed — and in some cases, even prevented — with early testing, vaccination (for Hepatitis B), and proper medical care.

Your liver is your body’s “filter.” Take care of it — avoid sharing needles, practice safe s*x, and don’t ignore regular checkups.

Have you ever been tested for hepatitis? If not, make it a priority this year.

STRESS IS REAL

Last week, a young lady walked into the lab looking very sick. She had been to two hospitals, done several tests, but everything came out normal.

She was scared. She thought maybe something was seriously wrong with her.

After a little chat, I found out she had been under so much pressure — long hours at work, barely eating, barely sleeping.

Guess what? It wasn’t malaria. It wasn’t typhoid. It was stress.

Stress can make you feel sick — headache, body pain, loss of appetite, even constant tiredness. Your body will keep sending signals until you slow down.

Sometimes, what you need is not more drugs but more rest, proper meals, and a little self-care.

Take this as your sign: rest is also part of treatment.

Are Your Hormones Out of Balance?

Sometimes your body gives you small signs when your hormones are not okay, but many people ignore them.
Here are some signs you should not overlook:

Unexplained weight gain or weight loss

Feeling tired all the time, even after sleeping well

Irregular periods or very heavy and painful periods

Sudden pimples or changes in your skin

Mood swings, anxiety, or feeling sad for no clear reason

Hair thinning or growing in unusual places

Low interest in intimacy

If you notice two or more of these signs, it’s time to get checked. A simple test in a good laboratory can help you understand what is happening in your body.

Don’t guess or treat yourself at home. Talk to a health professional and get proper advice.

Have you noticed any of these signs before?

Keep Your Blood Healthy and Beat Anaemia

Anaemia simply means your blood is running low. When that happens, you may feel weak, dizzy, tired, or even get frequent headaches.

Here’s how to keep your blood healthy and strong:

1. Load up on iron
Iron is what your body needs to produce red blood cells.
Foods to try: Liver, beef, chicken, fish, beans, spinach, pumpkin seeds.

2. Get enough folate
Folate helps your body create fresh, healthy blood cells.
Foods rich in folate: Ugu, spinach, avocado, oranges, groundnuts, beans.

3. Boost your Vitamin B12
Without Vitamin B12, your blood cells become weak and can’t function well.
Sources: Eggs, milk, yoghurt, cheese, chicken, fish.

4. Include Vitamin A
Vitamin A helps your body make better use of the iron you eat.
Sources: Carrots, sweet potatoes, mangoes, pawpaw, red palm oil.

5. Pair iron with Vitamin C
Vitamin C makes it easier for your body to absorb iron.
Try: Oranges, tangerines, tomatoes, peppers.

Pro tip: Cut down on tea or coffee during meals — they reduce how much iron your body takes in.

Bottom line: Eat a balanced diet, rest well, and get your blood checked often. Staying proactive keeps your body strong.
