The Voices of NCDI Poverty Advocacy Fellowship, an initiative of the NCDI Poverty Network, will be hosting a conversation led by People Living with NCDs (PLWNCDs) focused on understanding the burden and barriers of accessing care delivery for sickle cell disease (SCD) in rural areas and what is needed to improve SCD case management for communities affected by the disease.
Sickle cell warriors, clinical experts and NCD advocates across various countries and regions, including sub-Saharan Africa and Bahrain will share their personal and clinical experiences on the topic.
The event aims to bring together advocates and clinical experts to understand the burden of SCD globally, especially in rural areas where the disease burden is high. We will focus on learning how building partnerships through the PEN-Plus model can be one solution to providing more equitable access to life-saving care for severe, chronic NCDs like sickle cell disease, type 1 diabetes, and rheumatic heart disease.
Please join us as we discuss how the PLWNCD community can change the way we view SCD in the continuum of care and save lives.
