FMC Yola Discharges the Separated Conjoined Twins

Fatimah and Maryam the then Four months old set of Female omphalopagus twins said to be delivered by Caesarean section in Maiduguri on November, 25, 2017, with a combined birth weight of 4.5kg, shared a single umbilical cord and were joined from the mid thorax to the mid-abdomen.
The twins who were reported to be transferred to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola Adamawa State, on March 25, 2018, to be separated.
Who after six weeks of preparation, while they also added a combined weight of 11kg, were eventually successfully separated on Monday, May 14, 2018, following a four hour surgical operation, are finally certified fit for discharge.
Recall that the PRESICOPE Global Investigate, revealed that the surgery was carried out free of charge as was testified by Muhammad Ramat 30 and Fatimah Kellu Adam 27 the parents of the twins, corroborating the report from the management of FMC Yola
“It was not only the surgery, everything is free of charge, our transportation from Maiduguri to Yola, the feeding and accommodation, everything,” they would say.
The mother-in-laws of both Muhammad and Kellu, were with their children helping in managing their grandchildren; twins while at FMC Yola.
About two weeks, due to the end of session examination, Muhammad Ramat went with his mother back to Maiduguri leaving behind Kellu with her mother and the twins.
Today Fatimah and Maryam with their mother and grandmother have left FMC Yola back to Maiduguri.
The management of the Federal Medical Centre, Yola was reported to have facilitated the journey.
