OGU/BOLO LGA CHAIRMAN PROVIDES WATER SUPPLY AMID POWER OUTAGE

Following the vandalization of PHED power lines, which has left eight Local Government Areas, including Ogu/Bolo, in prolonged darkness for over a month, the Executive Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Nemieboka, has taken proactive steps to cushion the effects on residents.

To ensure that access to basic utilities is not disrupted, the Chairman has facilitated the regular fueling and operation of heavy-duty generators to sustain water supply across the communities.

The operator in charge of the water facility in Ogu, Mr. Nathaniel Davids, disclosed that water pumping begins as early as 2:00 am, with valves opened by 7:00 am to allow distribution across the community.

In Bolo Community, the Water Committee has also ensured the continuous pumping of water using the generators provided. Similarly, in Wakama Community, generators are being effectively utilized to pump water from the central water source, ensuring residents have access to potable water despite the ongoing power challenges.

This intervention has brought relief to residents, demonstrating the Chairman’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of the people, even in the face of infrastructural challenges.

I ask again

what is the LGA chairman doing? we are holding the wrong people accountable thats why there's no real change cause the people your to hold accountable are moving freely knowing fully well that you'll blame the state or federal government for their errors.

On Wednesday morning we saw a floating casket at George ama floating towards Ogbogbo.

I hope this isn't as bad as its sounds and the appropriate bodies have carried it out.

let's be careful and prayerful this period as it is not a smiling period

LET'S LEAVE FEDERAL AND STATE AND FOCUS ON OUR LGA.
WHAT IS THE WORK OF THE CHAIRMAN?
AND WHAT HAS HE DONE SO FAR?

Is Okrika on Autopilot?

At this point, one has to ask—are things being properly managed, or is Okrika running on autopilot?

Let’s be clear: the issue is not bad roads. In fact, movement within Okrika is possible. However, the real challenge is the high cost of transportation. Residents are constantly burdened with fares that keep increasing, making daily movement difficult, especially for low-income earners. What should be an affordable and accessible system has become a financial strain on the people.

Transportation in Okrika needs proper structure and regulation. There should be a standardized fare system to prevent arbitrary price hikes. Local authorities can also introduce subsidized transport options or partner with private operators to create a more balanced and affordable system for everyone.

Then there’s electricity. The power situation remains unreliable, with irregular supply affecting homes, businesses, and productivity. People are forced to spend more on fuel and alternative power sources just to survive daily activities.

To address this, there must be stronger engagement between local leadership and power distribution companies to improve supply consistency. At the same time, investing in alternative solutions like solar-powered systems or community mini-grids can provide long-term relief.

Okrika is not lacking potential—but without intentional action, it will continue to feel like a system running on its own.

It’s time for leadership that listens, acts, and delivers real change.
