Biography of the late Engr. Chief Innocent Akuvue.

In a career spanning over three decades, Engr. Dr. Innocent Akuvue has emerged as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. With a distinguished background in chemical engineering, his journey stands as a testament to dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Academic Foundations
Born and raised in Nigeria, Akuvue’s academic journey began at St. Theresa's Primary School, Nibo, and continued at St. Mary’s Primary School, Otukpo, in Benue State. He later attended St. Francis College, Otukpo, where his intellectual promise began to shine.
In 1986, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the then Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH), Enugu—now known as Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
️ Early Career and Industry Impact
Akuvue’s professional journey commenced with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ede, Osun State, during the 1986/87 service year. In February 1988, he joined Greenway Industries Limited in Port Harcourt as a Pupil Engineer, where he played a pivotal role in the construction and commissioning of the Greenway Ammonia and LPG plants. His technical acumen and leadership saw him rise to the position of Plant Superintendent.
In 1992, he transitioned to Fellows Chemical Industry Ltd as a Project Engineer, later becoming Project/Sales Manager. This role brought him into close collaboration with key operators and regulators in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Entrepreneurial Vision: GGI International
Four years later, Akuvue joined the family business, GGI International (Nig) Limited, as its pioneer Chairman/CEO. Under his visionary leadership, the company evolved from a general supply firm into a formidable player in the oil and gas industry.
A landmark achievement came in November 2010, when GGI International became the first Channel Partner for GE Water & Process Technologies in Nigeria—a recognition of Akuvue’s technical expertise and strategic foresight.
