Apams Funeral Ltd Hosts End-of-Year Party, Appreciates Staff, Branches

Apams Funeral Ltd, a leading funeral service provider, on Sunday organised its annual staff appreciation event, dubbed "Apams Day".

The event brought together staff from various branches across the country, providing an opportunity for the management to express gratitude and recognize the hard work and dedication of its employees.

The event kicked off with a brief mass, attended by the company's founder and CEO, Dr. Kevin Chukwumobi, his family, staff, and friends.

In his address, Dr. Chukwumobi commended the staff for their tireless efforts and assured them of the company's commitment to their welfare.

He specifically praised the Abuja branch for their outstanding performance and encouraged newly employed staff to emulate their colleagues who have been with the company for up to 20 years.

The highlight of the event was the announcement of the branch and staff performance awards.

Nkiru, a marketing staff from the head office, took the top spot for the fourth consecutive year, followed by Owerri branch and the Operational Manager of the company in third place.

Other winners include Asaba, Enugu, Umuahia, Abuja, Uju Chukwuma, Aba, Abakaliki, Maureen, Amaka, Chizoba, Uyo, Lagos, Borromeo, and Nkpor branches.

The event featured dance performances and cash awards presented by the CEO to some deserving staff members.

Recall last year some dedicated staff of the company received new vehicles for their contribution to the growth of the company

In a career spanning over three decades, Engr. Dr. Innocent Akuvue has emerged as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. With a distinguished background in chemical engineering, his journey stands as a testament to dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Academic Foundations

Born and raised in Nigeria, Akuvue’s academic journey began at St. Theresa's Primary School, Nibo, and continued at St. Mary’s Primary School, Otukpo, in Benue State. He later attended St. Francis College, Otukpo, where his intellectual promise began to shine.

In 1986, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the then Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH), Enugu—now known as Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).

️ Early Career and Industry Impact

Akuvue’s professional journey commenced with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ede, Osun State, during the 1986/87 service year. In February 1988, he joined Greenway Industries Limited in Port Harcourt as a Pupil Engineer, where he played a pivotal role in the construction and commissioning of the Greenway Ammonia and LPG plants. His technical acumen and leadership saw him rise to the position of Plant Superintendent.

In 1992, he transitioned to Fellows Chemical Industry Ltd as a Project Engineer, later becoming Project/Sales Manager. This role brought him into close collaboration with key operators and regulators in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Entrepreneurial Vision: GGI International

Four years later, Akuvue joined the family business, GGI International (Nig) Limited, as its pioneer Chairman/CEO. Under his visionary leadership, the company evolved from a general supply firm into a formidable player in the oil and gas industry.

A landmark achievement came in November 2010, when GGI International became the first Channel Partner for GE Water & Process Technologies in Nigeria—a recognition of Akuvue’s technical expertise and strategic foresight.

Legacy and Influence

Throughout his illustrious career, Engr. Dr. Akuvue has exemplified a rare blend of technical mastery, business acumen, and transformational leadership. His journey continues to inspire a new generation of engineers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, leaving an indelible mark on Nigeria’s energy landscape.

In an exclusive interview with Engr. Dr. Akuvue, he shared his insights, experiences, and reflections on his remarkable career, the evolving future of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, and the invaluable lessons he has gathered along the way.

He was the Ochudo of Nibo and is a member of several universities governing board and other associations.

It was a roll call of who is who in Ukpor community, Anambra State respected icon, Dr. Sir Raphael Arinze, popularly known as Papa Kariz, was laid to rest in a solemn but dignified ceremony.

Dr. Arinze, father of Chief Sir Chika Arinze (Akwukwo Chukwu Dere Ukpor), was celebrated for his legacy of community service, integrity, and leadership. His burial became a major gathering of notable figures, reflecting the profound impact he had on his community and beyond.

Among those in attendance were influential philanthropist Cubana Chief Priest, businessman Tochukwu Okonkwo, and several traditional, political, and cultural leaders who came to pay their last respects.
