*Date:* January 1, 2026

*Subject:* A New Year Message of Gratitude, Hope & Renewal

Dear Esteemed Colleagues, Beloved Patients, and Cherished Patients’ Relatives,

As we step into 2026, I am honored to write to you, not as an administrator, but as a fellow human being who sees the beauty, sacrifice, and resilience in every one of you.

Our Dedicated Staff, you are the soul of this institution, the heartbeat of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital. In the past year, you carried more than patients, you carried hope. You showed up even when exhausted. You smiled even when tired. You didn’t just do your jobs, you lived our mission.

In the new year 2026, may you find moments of quiet peace amid the chaos, recognition for every unspoken effort, opportunities to grow, learn, and lead, and the deep satisfaction of knowing you changed lives and added value to yourself.

To Our Patients, you came to us broken, afraid, or in pain, and you left with more than medicine. You left with care, with kindness, and with someone who listened. You are not “cases.” You are mothers, fathers, children, warriors, and dreamers. Your stories are the reason we rise and get to work each day.

May this New Year bring you full healing, body, mind, and spirit; new energy to chase your dreams; peace that settles in your chest, even on hard days; and the reassurance that you are never alone, we walk every step with you.

To Our Patients’ Relatives, thank you for trusting us with your loved ones. Thank you for being patient, present, and persistent. You are not bystanders, you are partners in healing.

I especially acknowledge everyone who has worked with us on the “Transformation Agenda” to bring remarkable progress to this hospital and enhance service delivery.

May 2026 bless your homes with peace, joy, and love, and answer your prayers, big and small, clarity in every decision, strength in every trial.

Looking Forward Together
2025 taught us resilience, and 2026 invites us to build something deeper, a hospital that doesn’t just treat illness, but nurtures wellness; that doesn’t just save lives, but honors dignity; that doesn’t just serve patients, but celebrates families.

Let us make this year unforgettable, not because of headlines, but because of hearts changed, lives restored, and futures rebuilt together.

May God’s grace be your guide. His peace be your shield, and His joy be your strength in the new year and always.

_Happy New Year to all._

In his response, Dr Afolabi expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the NYSC scheme. The document, now at its final stage, is expected to address funding bottlenecks, including a proposal for the state government to take over the payment of corps members’ allowances. This shift, he said, would free the hospital to provide better accommodation and further motivate the corps members.

Dr Afolabi assured the team that he would work on their requests and provide feedback by January 2026.
