Yesterday, 28th April, 2023, EduMental Hub in partnership with ArtsInMedicine (AIM) organized a mental health awareness program for retirees and senior citizens at Bode Olude community in Abeokuta, Nigeria to support and enlighten them on how best to take care of their mental health (especially after retirement).

The topic for the event was ; Emotional Management for senior citizens (aged).

We had various sessions like, group discussions, one on one discussions with our facilitators, panel session, fitness/exercises, games and presentation of gifts to winners.
Our facilitators, and Ifeoluwa Fajemirokun engaged the senior citizens who attended the outreach by giving them tips of how to manage their emotions and take care of their mental health at Old age. Also to remind them that, they are loved, well recognized and we appreciate their contributions to service and humanity.

It was an interactive event and fun.
The attendees expressed their gratitude and asked for more outreach like this.

“The experience I have had is that once you start talking about [experiencing a mental health struggle], you realize that actually you’re part of quite a big club.” — Prince Harry

Once you pay less attention to your Mental health, it will force you to pay attention to it (could be too late at that point). Speak to someone please 🙏🏿.
Prevention is better than cure.
